If you can spare a few bucks, please consider helping HossUSMC in his Kickstarter campaign to make a documentary on the American Militia.
The American Militia is one of the most mis-understood concepts in society today. I want to create a documentary that will guide people through the meaning and purpose of a militia to what kind of benefits we enjoy in America today because of them. Militia groups are so much more than just a community defense group. Our three experts will focus on the main subjects that will help us understand what the militia is.
Historical: How have militias manifested themselves over the history of mankind. We will answer this question by examining the history of communities that have banded together in self defense since the beginning of time. We also will look directly at the history of the Colonial British militias of the Americas and the post revolutionary war militias.
The Rule of Law: Being a nation that is governed by laws it's important that we examine the laws behind the creation of self defense forces and those that recognize and defend self defense. To understand the law we will consult a law expert that will guide us through the legalease and help us understand what the laws are, and how they came into effect.
Conceptual: If we know what militias were and what legal authority they have to operate we next will examine how they should operate. The modern world of weapons and tactics are a far cry from the technology of our founding. Our final expert is a military veteran of many years serving in the Army Special Forces, the Coast Guard (during wartime naval operations), and is currently active in the Air Force.
Finally the documentary will look at the modern society and how the militia fits into that. Our society today in many ways has been broken and fragmented by social dissociation, poor economic outlook, and launching itself off the moral cliff. These problems are not solved by force, but by people working together. We will examine how militias fit into communities to make them a better and safer place by providing training, social support, role modeling, and positive re-enforcement. Stronger bonds in communities are always a good thing for the peace of a people.

I threw in some bucks even though it probably wasn't the smartest thing to do for my personal financial situation. I am actually surprised that he didn't raise alot more and only 379 backers out of 73,476 subscribers on his YT page. That probably says something, but far be it for me to speculate about the state of things. Suffice to say, I'll put this emoticon right here....

Yeah it's in part finances along with folks not really understanding Kickstarter and a healthy amount of "I don't care."

You know who is with you when it cost them something. Remember that in the future unpleasantness... :(

Could just be that a lot of people don't have the money. I'm out of a job and going to school, for instance. Lots of people, even preppers, who would rather pay bills, save money or buy preps they can actually use for what is coming, rather than invest in a video that, while it's intention is noble, may not have much effect at all.

That's the beauty of crowdsourcing projects, a person doesn't need to chip out an unmanageable amount. If half his subscribers gave $1 each...... Anyway such is life sometimes, and USMC0331 makes a good point about knowing who is with you as the future rolls on.

Agreed. I'm just saying that it's often not so cut and dry. :-)
