Coming back early

Due to some personal family issues I will be coming back from this deployment early. I should be back in NC by February and I should be available to start teaching classes by March. I’ve already talked to NC Scout and we are working on getting dates hammered out but the biggest hurdle right now is getting a work schedule from my civilian employer. Once we get dates worked out I will let you folks know. I’m excited to get back to spreading this information out to those that want it. I’m also excited to start training with NC Scout and a few others. This year is going to be an interesting one.

It’s nothing terrible. It’s just been an interesting few weeks wrestling with my command to get them to send me home. Just highlights why I’m not re-enlisting again. Once this contract is up, I’m done.

There should be several options for you when you break the bond with the military. Paramedic or maybe a trauma nurse. When you get home I'll be monitoring the Ahoskie 2 meter repeater. I hope to hear you on there. If you upgrade your Ham license, I should be able to get to you on 160 meters, 80 meters, or 40 meters. If I get lucky at the Richmond Hamfest(FROSTFEST) I might find a deal on a better radio and I'll then have 2 ICOM IC 718's. I could then let one of the IC 718's go cheap if you want one.

PK, I’m workin on getting a degree in nursing at a local community college. It’s the route that makes the most sense for me.

I am definitely excited to start building my knowledge base.

Coolio! I plan on trying getting into a 1 yr LVN program within 1.5-2yrs and bridging to BSN from there. Prolly knock out a couple prerequisites while I'm saving up money and on the waiting list at nearby Adult School programs.


Figure might as well make my main prepper skill into my primary means of income BSHTF. Also good job security. They'll always want male Nurses, especially with Psych Experience, to deal with the particularly problematic PTs.

Definitely always a need for male nurses. Medical has always been an interest of mine. But once I went through the Medic Course when I got into the Guard I was hooked. This is definitely where I’m meant to be. I’m probably going to get my paramedic license once I get my ADN. I won’t work as a paramedic, but I’ll be using it to volunteer with my local EMS agency.

Welcome back.  Nursing is a good career.  There always seems to be a shortage, so jobs are not hard to find, even in a recession.  Also, it pays pretty good.  I've been an RN since 1987.  I took a break from it for a while to teach school, but I'm back at it.  Nursing is a good prepper skill to have.

As I wrote this I’m am sitting in a terminal at an Airport waiting to board my flight to start heading home. If you show up to either a medical class, or a Brushbeater course that I’m attending, I’ll tell you the whole story of this shit show that has been me trying to come home.
I’m ready to get back to my family and to start working on the next chapter of my life, even if it is a bit earlier than I had originally planned.

Don't matter when you tip him.  He is on there with you.  Do it when you leave so if you crash you saved a couple bucks.
