Hiding your Identity

I'm not going to pee on anybody's parade about using weird screen names because some folks have come up with some really cool ones. However, nobody should assume that they are hiding their Identity by using them. Uncle Eves Dropper is always watching and listening and whatever you post and everything you post has an IP address attached and that is just about impossible to hide. On every website that I use, I just go ahead and use my name because using a screen name is useless unless you want to just have a cool nickname for yourself. As for Amateur radio Callsigns, I have no problem with posting mine anytime and anywhere. Joe Blow might not know who I am but Uncle Eves Dropper sure does. Every now and then, when I post something on a website, I'll put GUNS, BOMBS, and EXPLOSIVES as the title just to make coffee shoot out of some government employees nose. Then I'll say whatever it is that I want to say even though it has nothing at all to do with the Title. I posted this just as a reminder that THEY are watching.

There was a similar discussion not long ago on another forum that I frequent. It seems that there are people out there that still don’t understand how the internet really works. I use a screen name, but I have no misguided idea that what I post is either private, or secure in regards to content or source. Of course I would never mention GUNS, BOMBS, or EXPLOSIVES in any of my posts so I won’t attract any attention.
