Happy 4th of July
« on: July 04, 2012, 11:36:53 AM »
Hey Gang,

I'd like to wish you and yours a happy and healthy 4th of July.

I would also like to remind you that it was on the 2nd that the Second Continental Congress voted to approve a resolution of independence. The best evidence suggests that the Declaration of Independence wasn't signed by all parties till a month later.

This day isn't what it is being sold as. In my opinion today is a day of morning, John Adams and Tomas Jefferson both died on this day in 1826. James Monroe followed them to their maker on the same day just five years later.

So when you hear the cannons fire today ask yourself what else are we morning the loss of today.

Hope you guys enjoy the day!

I gotta go work the Rose Bowl in a few and hopefully it goes by real easy. Parents can be crazy mofo's when it comes to their kids.

Good words from TG.

Best to all of you here on SP on this day. My wife and I just bought our first house and spent the last week plus moving. I think there was only one day that it wasn't 90+ degrees. So we are slugging it out inside and try to recuperate some, doing a little box shuffling here and there.

Want to do something more than just watch fireworks, drink beer, eat BBQ, hotdogs and hamburgers on the 4th of July?  American Independence Day?  Want to do something to advance the message of liberty, freedom and independence on the 4th of July?

I can't think of a better day to do it.

Print out some of these flyers using your own computer and printer at home, or take the file to a Kinkos (where ever), print them out there, and hand them out at whatever July 4th events you are going to.  Maybe it will help a few remember that the July 4th celebrations mean something a whole lot more than watching fireworks, drinking beer, eating BBQ, hotdogs, and hamburgers.  Its about Liberty, Freedom, and the Independence that we gained from tyrants.

Have your print settings as follows - Duplex: Booklet

Crudos, congrats on the new house!!!

Today Lee retreaded from Gettysburg after a 3 day intensive battle that saw 48,000 men killed, wounded or mia.

Today is my mom's B-day. She is 80.

My grandad (My mom's father) died on July 4th 1966

My great uncle (My mom's uncle) died on July 4the 1968

I and 40 like minded individuals took turns reading the Declaration of Independence at the WW 1 memorial this morning. The sad thing was though, all but a handfull were 45 or older and most were over 60.

Post the reading there was a quick discussion of the sinking of the Gaspee, a Bristish Tax collecting ship in RI waters: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gasp%C3%A9e_Affair

I forgot about this little act of defiance.

Happy 4th and thanks to all of the veterans that have made it possible to celebrate this day  over 236 years later.

First off I was sober till I got home bout an hour ago lol.  Anyway, had a great night of blowing shit up all night.  Got a bunch of big mortar fireworks this year and had a blast.  Nothing like tying fuses together for a more "professional show lol.  Did have a mortar explode just above the tube.  My crazy ass had just crouched down facing away from it about 7 feet away lol.  Ears stopped ringing not long after but sent my mother into an "I told you to be careful" tyraid.  Hell, I had a blast! (pun intended) lol.

You all don't get it.  Independence Day (now Dependence Day) for me has been a day of mourning for quite some time.  Think about it.  remember, remember the 5th of November... [img]http://www.arrse.co.uk/at
