Yesterday, the wife and I went to visit our grandson for his birthday. While we were in his small town, we went shopping at a place called Ollie's. Its like a Big Lots but only a lot better. They had a book section and they must have had about 8 different books on survival. I wanted to buy one of each but that would have been dumb since most of them teach the same things. Anyway, I bought two of them. They listed all the stuff you need to survive at home, all the stuff you need for a bugout bag, and medical and health needs. As I was going through the lists, my brain kept saying, got it, got it, got it, got it, got it, got it. I've noticed that on some items, I tend o go overboard and buy more than I'll actually need. OK, its not just me. My wife is a Tarp freak. We must have every tarp size in the world. I think I'm going to stop buying survival books. I think I have about six of them now.

 We have an Ollie's about 20 miles from here and like you said it is much better than Big Lots. It's like a candy store for preppers, you can spend hours looking around and thinking "What can I use this for". Fun store to shop.

Next time you need to do painting or something go there.  Wifes cousin has a 36 unit apt complex we manage (mostly) and I do alot of painting.  You can get Tshirts there for about $5 for a 4 pack of factory second (no major noticeable defect) Fruit of the Loom, generally grey or green.  Much easier to wear a day or 2 and trash (low paint skills here) than to try to keep reasonably clean and wash.

Also if you buy foodstuffs, be sure to check the expiration date.  I have found a fair number of granola packages within a month or of the expiration dates.  And more than a few after.  Some have notable taste differences too.

We have one near where we live and we try to make it out there at least once a month. Always walk out with some good stuff. When I first started getting serious about prepping the one near us had 4x4 gauze pads on ridiculous clearance. Lord knows I practically cleared them out when I saw that. Bedding is another good thing to get there. Can never hurt to have some extra blankets. Sheets can be used in the summer time for ice sheets (if you have access to ice) and if you find 100% cotton ones they can be sterilized for all sorts of bandaging needs.
