Hiya all,
I have just seen this film and wanted to provide my review.
First of all, I want to declare that I have not read the book yet. So what I am going to say here is based upon the movie and what interviews I have seen Kris Kyle give on YouTube.
I recommend everyone watch the film more than once.
This film creates a very clear picture of the emotional roller coaster that our war fighters have had to deal with. Even more powerful is the price our families pay for supporting us.
I carried a sniper rifle for 4 years of my 20 yrs in Panama and the prime moment of my life was encompassed in30 seconds. We were quashing a coup attempt one year after Operation Just Cause. As I was covering troops clearing an apartment block. Asby scanned the adjoining buildings with my sniper rifle, there was a figure that looked to be aiming a rifle at our troops. As I took up the slack on the trigger, the figure held the item far enough away from their body that I recognise that it was a kid of about 11 that was using a stick like a rife. Needless to say. I did not pull the trigger.
