Has anyone been watching this? Ive read it could be anywhere from a few bad tuna to the end of man if the removal goes wrong.
My first question is which way do I run if it turns bad? South? ... I'm half kidding but damn...

Damn, that's scary stuff.
I'm sure Japanese people will start to suffer the consequences of high radiation exposure in the next years, but if this task goes wrong it seems they could fuck up all the Pacific.

Ugh. There's got to be a better alternative for energy production. Hope things go smoothly, though nothing else has at Fukushima since the tsunami.

Sadly there isn't any other way to provide the huge amounts of energy modern cities with extremely big populations require.

The way the wind & water currents work, Washington state north will get hit with the brunt of the radiation. I remember all of the Japanese trash MrsMac I saw while walking the beach north of Grays Harbor :facepalm:
With the EPA writing regulatory regulations which will for all intents and purposes close coal fired and hydroelectricity power plants - Nuclear power plants are a reality. Lets just not build them on a earth quake fault or Indian burial grounds.

I'm sure that if governments put all their economic efforts into research for cheaper, more effective and safer renewable energy (like solar), we would be able to support the larger cities. Plus, you'd make the population, at least on a state or local government level, very self-sufficient. Oh, wait! :facepalm: That would mean that after a time, we wouldn't need government-run energy institutions! It's really for our safety, you know....

Albert Einstein said it best, "Nuclear energy is one hell of a way to boil water".
The water turns to steam from the heat and the turbines rotate.
Theoretically any heat source could do the job. Coal sounds ideal. That nuclear shits way too risky.
Lets leave nuclear energy in our weapons sights where it belongs.

We have enough coal and ways to clean the emissions to last us hundreds of years. However some folks want to close down the coal fields in W.VA., PA. & ND and put a whole lot of folks out of work. Maybe the government can take care of those folks too.

About a week or two ago CNN was pushing for nuclear power arguing it was safe. They played some documentary about environmentalist who had a change of heart and now want nuclear plants to go up all over the U.S. in order to rid ourselves of fossil fuels and avoid global warming. Afterwards Crossfire and Anderson Cooper and AC360 had a number of debates. Of course CNN had brought on people who still opposed nuclear plants such as Ralph Nader but it was usually a two on one debate with the host acting as moderator. The moderators also seemed to be biased in favor of nuclear power IMO. It seemed similar to when they were trying to sell us Obummercare or Obama as president or Mitt Romney as the GOP presidential nominee. Brace yourselves. :hiding: :tinfoil:

We have entirerly too many nuke plants in this country. I know they have generally good operational records. But when the fail, they fail huge. How can we trust a power source that could sterilize the surface of the earth? I feel for you ken.
