Title: Favorite Scotch?
Post by: EJR914 on August 27, 2011, 11:06:47 PM
My Favorite Scotch right now is Glennfiddich 15 its from a Solera Vat.  Its a single malt.

Next is the Glennfiddich 12, the Balvenie 12, 15, and 21 year.

Justerini and Brooks is a great blended as well as Johnnie Walker Red and Black.  Blends.

What are you favorite Scotches?

Clear, but sometimes I find uses for double stick.

Although, this one isn't too bad either.  Or maybe she is.

Scotch is my favorite alcoholic beverage...but I've never had a bottle that costs more than $70.  That being said, here's a brief history of my brand preference:

I started with J&B and have emptied dozens of 1.75L bottles.  I also sampled Glenlivit 12 year, Singleton 12 year and Johnnie Walker Red and Black during my J&B affair but was not impressed.  When an acquaintance turned me on to Dimple Pinsch (15 year blended) or "The Pinsch", my affair with J&B ended.  But eventually, on a whim, I tried "Isle Of Jura" (16 year single malt) or just "Jura".  Immediately fell in love with it.  It has very strong overtones of leather and butter toffee.  It was around $60/fifth when I first started drinking it but is now above $70.  I have a mental barrier about paying more than $70 for a fifth of anything.  If you don't, I highly suggest trying the 16 year Jura, if you can find it.  It usually comes in a box.  Do not waste your money on their 10 or 12 year, they are total shite!!!  As of now, since the price of Jura has crossed my line in the sand, I currently stock Glenlivet 16 year Nadura cask strength (54.4%/108.8 proof).  It lacks the flavor I desire, but will "get me there" with a good clean, sophisticated buzz for the money.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a darker, leathery tasting Scotch in my price range???

But do try the 16 year Isle of Jura at least once.  Either neat, or over ice (1 cube per shot).
