Congrats NOLA!

thanks a bunch guys. I'm going back to electrical work but this time I think there will be a little more expected of me. I'll be on my own (as opposed to being an apprentice who can ask for help).
we'll see how this goes. wish me luck.

Congrats, and good luck!!

Congrats, and good luck!!
thanks buddy. I'm actually a little intimidated.
Long story short, I'm used to large-scale commercial and industrial work, which sounds fancy and all, but you'd be surprised how little realistic trouble-shooting skills are picked up doing that kind of work. "industrial" sounds fancy, and it is in a sense, but that doesn't teach you to trouble-shoot some old lady's fucked up lighting situation caused by the moron that preceded you because he failed to correctly label his wiring. you can only gain that kind of skill through experience, and most of my experience is in NEW construction.
I just hope I can give this business owner what he needs. (what I told him I can give him) I think I'll be alright, but I'm a worry-wart. either way, we'll find out tomorrow morning. :-\ :)) [URL=http://www.smileyvault.co......... :-\ :-X

I know what your saying nola. i worked as a carpenter for awhile and we did all remodelling in new and old houses. Even in the new houses i found surprises everywhere huge pilies of garbage behind walls, toothpicks for studs ect. Have fun.
-
Youll do great NOLA. The fact that your worried tells me your humble and will be just fine. The over confident guys are usually the clueless idiots who try to make up for skills with their mouth.
-
Congratz and good luck with your new job Nola
Fixing the wiring some asshole did before you can be tricky business.
I remember once I have one color wires that got out in the next hole in a different color, we had to use batteries and lamps to identify the wires :D

thanks ken and APX.
so, first day on the job was BRUTALLY hot, but that was to be expected. It becomes obvious how badly your body falls out of shape when you're not working for a long time... lol.
either way, nothing out of the ordinary. seems like a good group of guys working for this shop. also heard good talk about the owner. apparently he has a reputation for rewarding good performance with more money.... sounds A-ok to me! :))

Glad to hear it went well

Good call not getting faced and showing up late. You know better than anyone that in this economy you can't fuck around like that.
