Trigger Words.
« on: April 02, 2021, 03:09:51 PM »
The wife and I have been prepping for many years. After about three years of prepping we decided that we should have some sort of code to let the other know that something was not right. Our Trigger word is super easy and only we would readily recognize it. Most of us have 3 names first, middle, and last. I use my middle name and she uses her first name. If I were to call her by her Middle name or she was to call me by my First name we would immediately know that something was not right. Since all three names are correct, nobody else should find that odd. Since she never calls me Page and I never call her Frances, that would be like a rocket going off if we hear that. The bad guy could be standing right in the room with us and never know that we had alerted the other of the danger. Even if we are on the Phone or our Ham Radio, we could use the trigger word without raising attention.

Odds are really good that anyone tracking you guys already know what you call each other and that would be a tipoff to them.

My way is a whole lot better than yelling "This is a bad guy".

However, you now told the world so I know that are not your trigger words.  ;)

Yeah, I know, but we can always change it to something else like "I made Lemonade today" or "Did you make Lemonade today?" By the way.... We never make Lemonade.

I worked out something similar with my wife years ago.  Thankfully we haven't needed it.

I wouldn't worry about telling us your trigger words.  I doubt your average criminal is getting on here to scope anyone out.
If you are worried about some state actor, your forum activities are likely not a huge concern.  They will already know everything they need to know about you.

Govt will just snipe you from afar.

If you need a second magazine, its time to call in air support.

Another thought is you won't need trigger words because if your significant other is aware of something out of the ordinary, you will know just from their actions, reactions, tone of voice, body language, etc... which will speak louder than any words. How many times have you just looked into the others eyes and commented "is everything ok?"
