I saw it. the only thing it effected was the TV, no internet. i didn't have the radio on but I'm sure the radio was probably effected. first it was a short recording of some guy but I actually missed most of that because I was in the other room. after that was done there was a red banner across the top of the screen and said something about "a point of entry has issued an emergency for the united states"

It seems it was a total fail

The first ever National Emergency Alert System test was a complete failure.

What do you think will happen when a real disaster hits?

In most areas of the country nothing happened and the intended emergency message was not broadcast. In some cases peoples T.V.?s went to a black screen, in others programming just continued without interruption.

It?s good to know that our government and Homeland Security is so on top of this emergency preparedness thing.

You are on your own people, if you had any doubt I hope this finally puts the question to rest. If anyone thought the government was going to be able to help them during an emergency it?s time to wake up. These morons couldn?t even get a simple test right.

EAS Failure Reports

    * Some areas of Southern California T.V. Broadcasts went dead for over 20 minutes
    * Most areas of the country had a black screen.
    * Many people are reporting that channels switched to a random channel and never switched back
    * Some Time Warner Cable customers reporting that test lasted for 25 minutes.
    * Overlapping signals and garbled unintelligible voices.
    * Those that actually saw it are reporting that they saw completely different messages depending on what area of the country they were in.

Oh, I get it. If you view the embedded YouTube video, at the end of the test you see "Verizon." The government has no more money, so they have to recruit sponsors to fund these tests. I guess all the sponsors didn't contribute enough money to make proper EAS test messages, or the government couldn't find sponsors for some areas of the country...oh well. At least Verizon Wireless seized another marketing opportunity...as if they needed it.

"Verizon Wireless - You can hear us, even in national emergencies."

interesting. yea the guy that operates MOXNEWS on youtube posted a few different recordings of the event right after it happened. his recordings are way different from what I saw. If I remember correctly, the actual audio recording sounded the same, but I never got that black screen with the white text. on my tv, the kids show that was on continued but the sound was muted while the recording played, and like I said in my first post, there was just a scrolling banner at the top of the screen that displayed the "point of entry" crap.

Maybe they should have just broadcast the teleprompter directly. I suspect it's the most intelligent member of the government.

I'm in Florida too and it popped up on my TV for about a second with a black screen and went directly back to the program that was on. I didn't hear any voices.

Well, since it was a failure I guess this gives the gooberment a reason to install these state-of-the-art street lamps with camera's and speakers in them, even though they are going to do it anyway.

I hear that.  I also made a point to listen to it on the radio and it sounded weird, like it has some subliminal messaging...  :o
