But I could have sworn my internet was just jammed by a passing train.
I'm on my laptop and my parents are in the living room watching TV through their Roku (an internet based TV provider that lets you stream netflix, crackle, hulu, pandora, etc. to your television). One minute I'm searching how the caucuses are doing with no problem at all, the next I'm getting the "we cannot find this page" message. Also, I hear from the other room, "ah crap." The netflix goes to a "loading" screen. Just then I hear and feel the rumble of a passing train (which looked like 4-5 engines only and no other cars). Less than a minute after it heads north, my internet is perfectly fine.
Could be a coincidence, could be a field test.
Oh well.

Are both devices wireless?
Do your powerlines/cable pass over the tracks?

Yes
Do your powerlines/cable pass over the tracks?
Not where it crossed.

Both devices were actively using the wireless to connect to the internet right?
was the train hauling ass?
If yes to both questions i'd be kinda worried.
What OS is on your laptop?(hopefully not windows even though it probably is) Don't change too much on your computer if you can.
I can tell you were to find your internet logs i might be able to tell you what happened. I doubt i'd be able to, but if it was anything highly malicious i'd be able to tell.

Yeah they both were using wireless at the same time
Train going fairly slow due to a sharp turn (changing directions from running east to north)
I took a second look and it possibly went under some wires.

California plates...Go figure. :))

We lost sat signal along with our internet connection there two (2) nights ago. It was somewhat stormy, but we NEVER have lost our internet due to weather like that. I checked everything, no loose wires, nothing spazzing out, nothing. Really thought it was odd.

Not unheard of. Cell phone jamming is common for the escort teams for quite a few shipments of sensitive materials. "Truckload of bad asses just in case anyone gets froggy"

You all might be surprised what travels over the roads and rails in this country :-X
By the way this is just one example of many.

That's odd cause I lost internet, cable, and cell service last night.
No trains, I figured it was the cold.

What time did this occur?

Roughly around 12-12:30am

Roughly around 12-12:30am
Eastern Standard?
Cause that's about the time it happened with me. Right when I got done texting TG's goofy ass. :P
