Gee wilakers Sledge you lived in the Mid-Atl region. 

Both of my vehicles have keyless entry. I use the de icer for when my windows become ice covered and don't have the time to let the trucks defroster do it's job. Hence my doors are open.  :)) It also works for locks.

Special, I typically loan my de icer to other motorists who's locks are frozen.  :)) :))

Way I see it you did the right thing. Beyond that who cares. If the perverbial hits the fan he might have a skillset that you could benefit from. (Common sense may not be one though) If he has no useful skills than put him to work. It's called gleanings. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gleaning

I have been in situations where I have helped and been helped by neighbors in all sorts of situations.  Its especially funny to see the the eyes of sheeple go wide during an emergency when you bring out a part of kit to be ready to respond...  cracks me up every time.

But yea Rvr, its hit and here.  Some neighborhoods I wouldn't mind asking a neighbor for a cup of sugar... Others you never go out alone much less talk to any of your neighbors lol
