Base Metals
« on: July 23, 2021, 02:04:31 AM »
Nope, I'm not going to mention Silver or Gold. We all know that bubble will burst and the real stuff will soar. Now, what about Copper and Nickel? I have been saving every penny that I find that is 1982 or earlier. About half of the 1982 pennies were Copper and the rest were Zink with Copper cladding. I weight the 1982's and keep the ones that are heavy. Nickels are still made of Nickel so I keep all of them also. I check the price of Base Metals and Copper and Nickel fall into that category. Copper is selling for $4.25 a pound and Nickel is selling for $8.67 a pound. That's more than face value for the Copper Pennies and the Nickels. When it all goes wrong and you need to make small purchases those Copper Pennies and those Nickels are going to come in real handy.

I stopped at a Home Depot yesterday.  It had a big sign, about 4 feet square, --Coins Needed--  in the window next to the entrance.  I made a misstake and took about $185 coins to the bank back last summer before a camping trip to Oregon Inlet, great Nat'l Seashore, W&E hookup $28 a night just past the Nags Head, Kill Devil Hills area.

Seeing stuff like this again, I will keep and increase what I have in coins.

If you need a second magazine, its time to call in air support.

God created Man, Col. Sam Colt made him equal, John Moses Browning turned equality to perfection, Gaston Glock turned perfection into plastic fantastic junk.

All my lead is Full Metal Jacket. There can only be two reasons why there is a coin shortage. ONE: People are starting to catch on to what the Government is doing and they are hording any and all coins. TWO: The banks are turning in all the coins that they get to the Federal Reserve so they can be removed from circulation which in turn will push people into Digital Currency.

I stopped turning my coins in to the bank about a year ago. I now keep the Nickels and Copper Pennies and only spend the fake coins that are made from zinc. I still use the Dimes and Quarters that are Nickel coated Copper but I find it painful to even spend those because Copper that is inside has some value.

Whenever the economy goes to crap, I have noticed that I see more wheat pennies show up in my change. The other day, I found 5 wheat pennies in my pocket change. Hmmmmm....... It would appear that people are starting to hurt.

Both reasons I believe PKv.

On wheat pennies, I have started to pickup pre 1962 dimes and quarters of late. I too think people are digging deep for money.
