You'd need a good lawyer to make that argument stand in court...

What are you in reference to? Me going apeshit cause they shot my dog?

I wouldn't need a lawyer for that. They just better stop me before I make it to my neck of the woods.

Am I the only one that wanted to reach through the internet, bitch slap the camera operator and say "stabilize your shit"?  :))

As to the action in question... fucking cowards.  And these are the people entrusted to "protect and serve" the "community".

Don't need to watch it.
What I don't understand is the lack of comprehension or concern these "officers" have as to the long term effects actions like these will have on the community and the individuals in the community. Actions like these make for long held beliefs and attitudes that will not just go away and may never be resolved for a lifetime. I suspect the officers involved will be remembered by witnesses and neighbors for quite some time for the example they have set and the resulting reputation cast on all law enforcement.

Maybe someone should also point out to them that there really are people out there who keep lists.

Shot it while it was on the pole already.... wow...Now if the owner called them up to pick it up for being vicious or it attacked some one and was going to be put down i imagine it really dosent matter as its dead shortly anyways. I would imagine this is likely why they did this. Why try and get a crazy biting dog into a truck pin and risk injury if the dogs on its way to die anyways.

I say this as i cant imagine them shooting the dog if it was to be adopted. But it wouldnt totally suprise me.

I didn't watch the video because I've seen enough dogs shot in my life already, so what really happened?

What did the news say about it? What does the video show? Like Ken is pointing out there is a number of great reasons to 'handle it on scene.'

Ya you can see once the dog was snagged it went crazy. To those upset, How would you get that dog into the truck? Lets assume the dogs being picked up for killing a child to be put down. Whats your plan?

I realize lots of cops are scumbags but some of you think with zero rational. Just a cop shot a dog time to go destroy korean shops and steal a new TV.

Well, in the situation I put it in.

I explained what I would do.

I don't know the back story on this. I know that once those poles are hooked up, the person at the other end has about 5 1/2 - 6 foot of leverage and the dog really isn't going anywhere. Sure it may be going ape shit but what wouldn't with a noose around its neck? After the point of the wire and poll. There was no reason at all to shoot that dog. NONE it was under control no matter what the pigs say. It was subdued.

Or (no offense to any members here) if the woman couldn't handle the dog on the pole one of the big ole officers should have grabbed it.

I chaulk it up to overreaction and not knowing what the f*** they were doing.

I'm not going to speak my mind because it will be flamed.

What happened here was an instinctual judgement call. Whether right or wrong, a judgement call was made. We just have the benefit of hindsight and composure. I say no more.

Just an opinion here, take it and filter it against your own experiences and knowledge.

Had to watch it to comment further. Here's what I saw despite the lousy camera handling, the dog never showed any signs that I saw that would indicate aggressive behavior, lowering of the head and ears tucking back (always happens when a dog growls defensively), rapid switching of attention from target to target (there were three from the dogs perspective), I didn't even see any telltale jerking that would indicate barking up to the point the choke stick was used.

What I did see, People who have no business being around animals. I've had to deal with the results of idiots like this who think only of dominating an animal with force, brings to mind dealing with horses and cattle that small minded morons tried to whip or drag by the neck into trailers. I also saw an incompetent female animal control officer who tried to do a job she didn't have the upper body strength for.

Looking forward to hearing more of the background and circumstance though.

Couldn't they pay the chick way too much money to hold a caution sign while her dude coworkers handle the dog?  I thought that's what equal opportunity meant...  Someone's not paying enough attention, we demand privilege not equality!  Fuck your man work, it's hard and I just got a manicure  :(

I didn't watch the video, but I'd like to know where I can get one of these free candy canes you mentioned?

The dog was wondering the street by itself.

I have no problem with stray dogs being shot if they get dangerous.

If the owners cared so much about it, why did they let it get out?

But if someone did hurt my doggie, who unfortunately I no longer live with, since he is on the other side of the country, I would kill them, regardless of their profession.
It's better to have it and not need it ...

Dog was just sitting there for how long not threatening anyone?  And where was it I read about the police shooting all the stray dogs... Oh yea, AFGHANISTAN/IRAQ.

I woulda laughed my ass off if the home owner shut the garage door on them and told them to bugger off, then find the dog a good home.  Non intervention on the peoples part give the government the excuse to intervene... at least in their (and the sheeple's) minds.

*jumps to an emotional conclusion based on personal opinions that very well have zero application in this vague, blury, unknown scenario*

"I HAVE OPINIONS AND YOU ARE GOING TO HEAR THEM USING THIS RANDOM VIDEO WITH A VICIOUS MAN KILLER OR NICE FAMILY DOG OR SOMETHING AS MY EXCUSE!!"

And people are suprised when riots, fights, murders, beatings, etc break out over the dumbest tiny things....  [img]http://www.arrse.co.uk/at

Here we are all upset over a video with no facts involved. Why? because some of us love dogs, and others hate cops and we just materialize facts out of thin air in order to vent our anger... its a mad world....
