Yep. My gramps lost a few buddies at Pearl Harbor, enlisted in the Navy and served on a destroyer on the Pacific. Witnessed a V2 rocket hit when he was docked in England. His time his getting near.
Try to get as much information out of them as you can. My grandpa started to open up and tell me stories but then he had to go be put under medical supervision. If you still have vets around that are able and willing to tell you what they know, I say take the opportinoty while you can.
R.I.P.

My dad did a little time in Pearl Harbor when he was in the Navy. He's 90 now. He still gets in more hunting than I do! I think between us , we have about 122 years of hunting seasons. ( him carrying the majority of those )

both of my grandpas fought
one went to europe, the other the pacific
The pacific one was the toughest son of a bitch i ever met
he saw the entire war through, even though he had the opportunity to go home a couple times
his entire squad never made it back but he did
then that ornery fucker went to korea
old man died on his ranch, on his porch in his rocker with his rifle slung across his lap

Great for him Mountain, sounds like a hell of a man. And what a great way to go. I wouldn't mind going the same way.
