Stories of conversion
« on: April 21, 2013, 02:36:23 AM »
Just converted or at least planted the seed in an individual that at the beginning of the conversation was preaching gun control.

I just flat out converted an anti, well. Maybe not flat out but at least planted the seed. Odin, help it grow into wonderful crops.

My story is, Walking patrol ( Section 8 housing armed security ) I speak with an individual and light up a smoke. We start talking and it leads to guns. He disagrees with everything about them. I explain my position, he explains his I tell him he's wrong and this is why. ( INSERT BASIC LOGIC )

Didn't take to well.  :-\

So, I chime in with some conspiracy stuff, 9/11  turns out. It worked. So as he's buying into it, I explain to him that its not about the firearms its about control. Here's the example I used ( Keep in mind I just ranted and raved about conspiracy theory stuff and he was totally buying it.  >:D

ME " Look man, lets just say you were a slave owner "

HIM " Ok "

ME " You have your slaves that you treat rather badly, and they are chopping sugar can with machetes. You find out they are rather angry and are planning an uprising. Do you let them keep their machetes or take them away and give them butter knives? "

HIM " Oh, I get it. You want the best tool available "

So lets hear your stories of conversion.

I used to work with this guy a few years back. Kind of a good'ol boy meets city wife and settles down type. I brought up guns one day and he took a little interest seeing as how he grew up in the country. Course I have to explain why I have an AR15. Slowly, but surely over a period of a few months we grab a drink here or there and talk politics. He leans conservative with liberal tendencies on things like welfare. His wife is definitely liberal. Someone at her work gives her the book "Lights Out." She starts to wake up a little more and I mention prepping to him off and on. That went on for a good year. Just prior to me leaving that job we went out to grab a bite to eat and chatted for a few hours. Knowing me a lot of it went over the biblical aspects of why I prep and what's going on in the world as a whole. And we also addressed some issues he had with the church growing up. Mainly hypocrites.

About 6 months go by and I've not heard from him. He calls me out of the blue one day asking for my input on shotguns and hunting rifles. Another 6 months goes by and I run in to him. He's bragging about his new AR. Last I heard a couple months ago he bought same land out in the middle of nowhere, built a cabin, he and his wife had their first child, and they're getting ready to hightail it out of here. Full on prepper.

That's the easiest to tell. I've planted a lot of seeds over the years though. Some do well on their own. Some need lots of fertilizer. And some, well, I think they got labeled wrong and are really weeds.

That said, I may or may not have mentioned Obama being a lot like Hitler a couple weeks ago and severely offended a couple we were out to lunch with from church. It's part of a social group thing were we rotate as couples to get to know everyone better. Luckily it was our last lunch with them. They've not spoken to me since  ::)
