Title: A-10 Warthog
Post by: brat on September 03, 2014, 04:59:33 PM
Interesting interview with Pierre Sprey, one of the original designers of the A-10 Warthog during the 1970s.

How the A-10 Warthog became 'the most survivable plane ever built' (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rEdy84YGf1k#ws)

I want one.  If for nothing more to sit in my yard and let me look cool in the cockpit.

a long time ago, I lived on a hill top near an AF base in Germany.  A10's would take off and fly towards our barracks.  it was kind of cool looking down at the cockpit before they would turn or pull up.  I do have to admit, it was kinda unnerving sometimes, if the wind and weather were right 3 or 4 of them would fly over our kaserne and you couldn't hear them until they were right on top of you.  made me spill a beer once.  very cool CAS plane!

The SU-25 is a more versatile and capable aircraft. But I love the A10.

Ever see Pierre Sprey's interview about the F35?
