There is a guy on you tube that is a complete TOYOTA freak. I think his name is Scotty Kilmer. He is a huge fan of any Toyota that is prior to 2015. He says that as long as you change the oil and keep all the other fluids at proper levels, you can't hardly wear them out. Now, as for what I have started doing a long time ago. I bought a 1962 VW Squareback that was purchased in Germany one year before they started selling them in the US. That SOB damn near bankrupted me with repairs. Then I bought a Dodge Van from the Store that I worked at and that thing refused to die until one day the fuel pump went out so I sold it for cheap to a friend who was a mechanic and he drove the crap out it for what seemed like forever. Then I bought a new 1973 Plymouth Duster and it was great but I traded it in at 100,000 miles for a new Dodge Aspen and when it reached 100,000 miles, I bought a new Isuzu I Mark. Damn! I couldn't wear that damn car out. Then I bought an Isuzu PUP Truck and I couldn't hardly wear it out either. Then when My Father traded his 1986 Dodge short bed Pickup Truck, I immediately bought it. I still have it but it isn't running. Then I decided to buy CLUNKERS for cheap and drive them until they quit and then replace it with another clunker. I bought an old Dodge Maruader and ran it till it quit. Then I bought some kind of midsize Chevy and drove it until it quit. Then I bought a used Ford Taurus and ran it for years until it quit. Then I bought 2 similar cars. I think the Dodge was a Scamp and the Plymouth was the same car with Plymouth on it. They ran forever and then died. Then I bought a 1998 Chevy Lumina for $800 and I still have it with 218,000 miles on it. I also bought a 2001 Ford Expedition for $4500 that has about 207,000 miles on it and I still have it. Then, while I was having some minor repairs done to the Lumina, the wife and I went out and found a 2012 Acura TL with 127,000 miles on it for $9000 so we bought it. I will never buy another brand new car because the Taxes and insurance are a bitch on new cars.
