Today I was running security for a young fella in the Atlanta metro area (I cant say who for contractual reasons). But this fella was wear the most assanine shoes I have seen in my WHOLE life! The shoes had TOES can you believe that toes! Looked like he had painted his feet black. Anyone that would wear those things is bound to die in a SHTF situation. I just had to vent boys. Stay Frosty!

Hey Crested-G I hear ya'.
My sister in-law had her niece and niece's husband staying at her house for 6 or so months. They had come out to the east coast from Oakland, Ca. to see if they wanted to move eaqst. While there they both had min wage jobs (My brother wouldn't let then stay unless they carried their weight) which is great.
Over the 4th of July holiday, my brother brought them up to our camp for a relaxing holiday. The first morning, I saw these (Not like what you described) funky sneakers on the husband of my sister in-laws niece and said, "Man those kicks are butt ugly." Well he looked at me, smiled, and said with pride, "These cost me almost $400-."
Well old JohnyMac being old JohnyMac I said, "I suspected you weren't the sharpest tool in the shed and now you just confirmed it." As I walked away, I could hear my wife and my brother roaring with laughter and could only imagine the look on the $400- sneaker guys face.
Later that day, I didn't see him wearing his sneakers he was sporting an old pair of my boots which my wife suggested he wear around camp. :-))
PS: Sorry for any spelling errors as the spell check function isn't woking.

As funny as those toes shoes look they are a really interesting idea. If you took off your 5.11 boots and actually walked around barefooted you would notice at least on thing right of the bat, years of wearing shoes has fucked up the way you walk.
The whole goal of those toe shoes is to take you back to the barefooted style that was all the rage for 125,000 years.
We didn't evolve with shoes on.

For some reason...those 'shoes' remind me of "grape ape."

Man those are ugly ass shoes, I can imagine somebody trying to kick somebody with shoes on he wouldn't last a fraction of a second :))

I thought the whole point of boots was to protect your foot from stomping, falling items, getting cut, losing toes, and all types of damage that can happen to toes, and feet.
It does make you wonder about all the other type of feet coverings that people used in the past few thousand years, and the fact that early man probably didn't have much of a shoe at all.
I'm sure for a fact that some of the shoes we wear now probably mess with our joints, and the way we stand and walk.
This shoe seems great for running or something where you're not worried about messing up your foot through trauma. Other than that, though, those shoes are FUGLY! LOL

Agreed. The are for chilling, running and other activities. There are great for when you do not need boots. And yes they are fugly.

They make socks for em. And they have special anti oder fibers that work real well.
-

When I was a Union Carpenter I had to wear steel toed boots. It was one of the rules, sure I didn't have to on every job but most of them for sure.
You know what I learned? If you are wearing steel toed boot you will drop shit on your feet. It's just the way it is.
It's been 4 years since I owned a pair and I no longer drop shit on my feet. I imagine that after a while of being barefooted you would start looking at what you were walking on. ;)
Just my 2 cents, take it or leave it and as always stay frosty.
-
When I did electrical work for a construction group, I never dropped shit on my foot and I wore steel toe boots. I'm just a very careful person for the most part. I didn't depend on the boots, because I felt that if I dropped a really heavy Hilti drill on my foot, the boot really wouldn't protect me that much anyway.
Take it or leave it.

....and I no longer drop shit on my feet.

Fucking nasty toe nails...
-
Im required to wear steel toes, but i will say they come in handy in situations like when setting something heavy down. set it on your boot to get your fingers out then pull the boot free... I think its safe to say that if im able to carry it then its not heavy enough to crush the steel toe when simply setting it on it.
-
But I 've gotta know are they socks or shoes? I hate to be off topic but I gotta know.
-
I'm just waiting for them to make some steel toe Crocs. :P
-
Just gotta put this thought out, TAKE CARE OF YOUR FEET.
Might be a good idea to get into the habit now.
-
I imagine that after a while of being barefooted you would start looking at what you were walking on. ;)
That's why Cody Lundin goes barefoot literally everywhere. It slows you down, and you will notice more stuff in your environment.
-
If its a cold environment you can also lose your toes as well.
-
best river shoes ever.
