We got one through the shop that I work with. I got a chance to shoot it a little (250 rds).  It is a respectable Hi-Power.  Feels good in the handle fit and finish seems decent. Had a few little bumps in the road with 4 FTE's. I needed to remove the extractor, clean out the channel and reassemble, then it was good to go.  Overall it should be a decent option......that is once they settle in price wise.  That will come with availability. No way would I pay over MSRP for them as they have been going for particularly on GB.

Im with RB, keep the Ghirsan.  I am not a fan of the Turks. Especially when there are any options.

I read the article but did not see the price. Does anybody know?

My second semi-auto pistol was my Browning Hi-power. It was given to me for Christmas by MrsMac in 1988. I thing she paid around $700- then. I used that handgun as my EDC until I bought my Kimber 1911 in 1998.

I have carried both the Browning and Kimber in a IWB Gelco Horse Hide Royal Guard holster. In my opinion, a great holster. Pricy? Yes, but you get what you pay for.

My Browning ate all ammo reliably with the exception of 148gr defensive rounds. On occasion they would not feed well after I sent a round or two down range. It might have been me, limp wristing my hold as those 148 gr defensive rounds were as snappy as firing a 10mm 1911. LOL.

Johnny

MSRP is $699 which is very reasonable for that pistol.  Once supply settles and the "new hotness" factor drops they should be available for around $600.  On GB they are averaging well over $1k and as high as $1600.  That is so absurd for those guns.  For $1600 I would get and Belgian FN High Power that will appreciate in value rather than the SA that will have the bottom drop out in short order.

Hopefully SA focuses their resources and increases production of the SA-35 and eliminates that clown show Saint Edge ATC. They should straight be embarrassed about that and whoever the good idea fairy that came up with it should be fired. A mainly proprietary overly heavy"precision" semi auto chambered in .223 Rem (yup thats right not 5.56).

Back to the SA-35.  Even at full MSRP it was a good pistol, for the expected selling price it will be a very good deal.  For what people are getting for them now they are not worth talking about.

WTF Chris? Chambered in .223? I don't get it. It makes no sense. Yes, someone should be fired due to that decision.

Interestingly, related to the original post, FN has re-started production of the Hi-Power. These should be hitting the market in Q2.

With FN back in the game I cant see any reason to go with the SA clone.  Particularly for the stupid prices they are going for now.

If they actually hit the market for the MSRP or under they look to be a good deal.  SA and Ghirsan can still do well if they can get their pricing in line.  Anyone who has recently paid close to double MSRP or more for an SA must feel a bit, um, stupid. Talking about the bottom dropping out for the value of an SA, wow.
