Title: What To Wear?
Post by: CrystalHunter1989 on April 15, 2013, 11:03:05 PM
This might seem really silly, but one thing I've never asked myself is "what am I supposed to wear under my gear?" Obviously I'm not going to wear BDU's, not interested in being mistaken for the military. Jeans are fashionable, but they lose their heat retention if they get wet.

Granted, all of this is in the event I have no time to plan.

Me,
Spring Summer
Marpat slacks, s/s Duluth t-shirt in Kaki or black.

Fall Winter
Marpat slacks
Long undies (Top & Bottom)
Layers of fleece kaki / Brown /black

Anyhow that's what I have done.

I'm thinking about just wearing my birthday suit. Think about it. Who's gonna fuck with the bad ass pointing 3 guns at them? I rest my case.  :P

Simplest answer comes in two forms:

First for is if there is no time to prepare, and that answer is by far the simplest.

WEAR WHAT YOU HAVE AND SURVIVE.  Keep a spare change of "bug out" clothes in your car or wherever you go, or simply don't wear anything you wouldn't be able to survive a week in without changing (at least you pants).  Camo patterns work best in the wilderness but solid colors work well in some situations, especially at night. (OD and Navy Blue, Black even at night will make you like a boner in gym class)

The second form of the question assumes that you have some time to prepare and can "dress appropriately".

Simply put, WEAR WHAT WORKS.  If you are trying to blend in with the sheeple, wear what would accomplish this.  If out in the bush, wear what works best for your area.

Obviously I'm not going to wear BDU's, not interested in being mistaken for the military.
First of all, most LEO Tac teams are now switching to some form of at least knock off military pattern as well.  But this raises two questions:

First is, what are you so afraid of in wearing such?  If it is other "preppers" going ape shit and shooting at you cause they think you are the gov. then treat them as hostile because they don't possess the IQ and plain common sense to IFF.  And clearly such douche-baggery should be eliminated from the gene pool.

The second question is, could it be to your advantage to blend in with those who regularly wear such uniforms?

I wear normal clothes, usually in subdued colors.  I don't really have a cold season that requires to much snivel gear, but it's usually tan or grey hiking pants and a brown or OD shirt.  I have several "fishing shirts" in an array of colors that CCW well.  I feel that subdued clothes with cammo second line gear do a better job at hiding you in the woods than being all cammied up will hide you in WalMart.

Cargo pants in earth colors with long-sleeve brown or green twill/cotton cargo shirts are the way I roll.  I get practicality, comfort, and the rugged outdoor look that chicks love! [URL=http://www.smileyvault.co

Crudos, I LOVE IT!

Once I opened it I thought of my father who was a naturalized citizen from Scotland.

I remember going to gathering's with him and often women would say to my dad, "What do Scotsman wear under their kilts?" He would always grab there hand and say, in a Scottish accent, "Come here and let me show you lass."

They would always squeal and run away. My dad would always wink at me and of course I would roll my eyes as I had only heard and seen this little theater performance a couple thousand times in my life.  [img]http://www.arrse.co.uk/at

I like it man! Crudos, you are always thinking.
On that same theme...How about a calendar titled Beards of SP men????

I have my dad's kilts but they are all to small for me now. One of them (he claimed) was willed to him from an uncle killed in WWI.

That might be a good way to attract some more women members, depending on the merchandise.  I'd be happy to peruse pics and give a thumbs up or thumbs down on the calendar idea if any of you gents want to post pictures of yourselves in your finest tactical kilt.  Feel free to include action shots doing manly things like splitting wood or drinking a pepsi (some of you may be to young to remember those commercials :)))  ;)

The same goes for JM's bearded men calendar, I'm sure there are some fine ones  [URL=http://www.smileyvault.co

@Rvr

I'll send you with some chianti and fava beans to go with your dinner, but I'll need to see some kilt pics first.  Less talk, more action  :P

Ala, I am having to work on mine again since I had to shave a while back to get this other job.  Although working midnights I have not been clean shaven in a while, I just keep most of it short while I let my goatee work its way back to glory standards lol
