Unchained Preppers

To me prepping is a mind set, we are not extremists, wack jobs, or conspiracy theorists. Prepping is about being ready for any kind of disaster, natural or manmade. We put food away for when we may not have any and know how to produce more. We are proficient with firearms and have ammo for said firearms. We have medical supplies and know how to use them. If something is broken we know how to fix it.
What does that tell you about prepping?
A. Prepping is about knowledge before anything else.
B. If we don't know we learn (thus the creation and intention of this site)
C. We care about this country and the people around us.
We are not "right wing extremists" as the media likes to portre we are everyday people from all walks of life, all races, all religions. Granted for those of you that have seen me in my finer moments on blog tv i could be labled an extremist, but we aren't we are however a group of concerned citizens. We believe in the constitution of the united states and will fight to keep our beloved country, from enemies both foreign and domestic.
We strive to learn each and everyone of us, if we don't know how to do something we talk to someone or pick up a book and READ (oh my what a crazy idea read rather than watch American idol), or get on the net and watch a video on youtube. We are here to learn from one another and discuss ideas.
We are all concerned about the way our country is headed but all we can do is prepare, learn and vote.I harp on learning allot in this post because when the time comes your not going to be able to call someone up and have whatever you need. Yeah guns are fun but there is alot more to it that just firearms. If you cant raise your own food what are your going to do when your supplies run out? If you cant can how are you going to preserve said food? If you don't have some basic medical knowledge your dead. Prepping is 98% mental, 1% supplies, 1% physical. Just because you have 2 years worth of food or 10,000 rounds of whatever ammo, doesn't mean you will survive. In fact your will probably end up dead from something as silly as a minor infection because that new AR was more important that medical supplies. Learning is the most important thing you or i can do to prepare.
Here are a few ideas of books to read or download.
1. "where there is no doctor"
2. "where there is no dentist"
3. Anything by Ragnar Benson
4. The Dave Gingery books
5. Just about anything from paladin press
Search pirate bay or torrent reactor for survival torrents, just learn anything and everything you can while you still have the internet and have the info at your finger tips.

Yes, Learn.
Learn everything. Even if you disagree with its use. Know how to to it.

LOL! Ok, I take you at your word. I'm finding the "I have nothing else to say" part a little unbelievable after knowing you on line for the past few months. But we'll see. I'm betting you won't be able to stop yourself. But you never know. :)

lol, normally if I have something added. Especially picture involved.
I have my response drawn up prior to the initial engagement.

I really wish the divisive politics could be taken out of the prepper movement. But unfortunately, there is more than a fair share of preppers with extremist political viewpoints, which I see even on this forum from time to time. If prepper who supports President Obama showed up on a lot of forums, they'd be ridiculed and lambasted for it if they ever expressed their political views. It is also to note that a lot of those involved in the survivalist and militia movements of the 70's and 80's, which were very right wing (from my experiences), are likely to folded into the new prepper movements we see today. For better, or for worse, that is what the media sees a lot of. We have a lot of P.R. work to do in our movement to dispel these negative connotations, if we really care about the future of our nation.
Great post WT. + karma for you.

While there are extremists on the right, and possibly even here on this site, maybe we need that to counter the extremists on the left. Just a thought. The media is going to portray the right in a bad light no matter what. They call the right troublemakers when old ladies at the TEA party speak their minds, and clean up after themselves when they leave. When the left gather to speak their minds, they leave behind trash, overturned cars, and broken windows, but they're just being "passionate about their cause." As far as a prepper supporting Obama, isn't that like the firemen training in support of the arsonist, or the cops target practicing while supporting the bank robber? Preparing for the fall of the country that our fore fathers fought and died for while supporting the man hellbent on running the country into the ground...I don't get it...just my opinion.

Just more examples of divisiveness there MJ. Being fairly close to Madison, Wisconsin, I know tons of lefties that don't fit any stereotypes that Fox News, Rush, Sean or O'Reilly like to propagate via their daily shows. Yet they all love their country just as much as we do.

That's good to hear. I'm glad there are some out there. My digs were mostly against the media and Obama. It would be better if the media info would put things more on a level playing field. Some people who have been around a while know how great the country is, but some people only get their info from Saturday Night Live. Ya just wanna beat your head against the wall when there are people voting that can't tell you who the Vice President is.
