Put away an extra 50L of water, stocked up on a few medical supplies and put my second car in the market.
What I make from the car will go towards my firearm, replenishing my lpg reserve which is almost used up, several Jerry cans of gasoline and the rest will be going into bitcoins. With the value of the ZAR circling the drain I need a financial reserve that I can use globally, electronically and keep off the radar of the powers that be.

Also fighting to get my UK citizenship, things are heating up here and I want to be ready if I need to bolt.

Bitcoin?  Is that worthwhile?  I really do not think much would be required to break the internet.  That happens and you are screwed.

What about the idea of cash, gold, silver, diamonds or such there and once UK, wire some to one of the big ones there?

To be completely honest with you Nemo, I'm scared shirtless by the idea of bitcoins but at the moment I'm more concerned about what's happening in my own country than I am about the idea of a global event. if the internet goes down, I have bigger things to worry about than what happened to my funds whereas of I decide to leave the country I don't plan on taking much with me and I'll need the funds available wherever I end up. taking resources out of the country comes with heavy taxation, I have friends who recently emigrated who were taxed almost 40%  which means they left here with almost half of what they saved up and then ended up in a country where the exchange rate is 18:1 ie they had nothing. if I put my funds into physical resources I WILL loose it, by going with bitcoins I MAY loose it and at this point those are the odds that I find preferable.

I have seen some movies where people swallow diamonds prior to going through security and well you know-- to retrieve them.  Not at all fun but do-able.  Is something like that an option.  Not questioning your as to your plans, just interested in your situation.

Well ...... I have gotten to the end of a year or so procurement cycle and took the time to take a look at all the stuff we bought in preperation for sorting, rigging and packing it all as it needs to be for use.

Holy heck...... I think I have went a bit overboard.

We have everything needed for the family BIG time.

It looks like I have enough to outfit a squad of people with the essentials.

Plus enough for an AID station.

You know?  I am REALLY happy. We stuck to the budget and by buying smart we overachieved.

Thinking about putting a care package together to send to JM to use as prizes to the UP community now.

Cheers

I was in Walmart today and noticed Winchester 5.56 was $7.54, down from $10.74 so I bought the last two boxes. Friday I ordered a 3 point sling for my AR and Monday a friend who I workout with is bringing in two  chance tickets for an AR15 for me to buy.

2 weeks in physical training with a spinal injury specialist. down 3% body fat, 4 cm around the gut and feeling a lot more energetic.

Assisted in a police night op this morning with a few other locals. Was a good tryout and useful to get used to the outlying terrain in the dark.

Went to the range to test the CZ P07, fell in love. And with the price difference compared to the G19 that means more ammo and probably a couple extra CLIPS  ;) (yes, that was deliberate)

Jim, I actually searched long and hard for a GOOD flashlight with a back switch that didn't cost the earth. Once you get used to it you'll find that it's actually very handy.

Thanks, TG!

Started to harden the house. I put extra long screws in the outer doors striker plates and next is to replace the bolt locks so there is a key needed both inside or outside to unlock them.

1) Saturday, bottled 2 carboys of hard cider - Two carboys yet to bottle.
2) Started to harvest other veggies than lettuce, snap peas and radishes. Now harvesting spring rutabagas and summer squash. Lot of
green tomatoes. Corn didn't do well this year. Only about half of the corn I planted germinated.
3) Ordered a tri-axle of logs for the wood stove. Once cutup I should get between 7-8 cords. We only need 5 cords as I have 2 left over
from last year. I may sell the extra firewood to recoup some of my expenses.

Gonna be picking blackberries again this year and making my trademark wine again. The last time I did that I made about 70 bottles of wine.

I gave myself a good prep test today.

Had a doc appt this afternoon.  Va does not let firearms in hospitals.  His office it not in a hosp but I figured I oughta go without which is wife's preference for doc appt anyway.  Then over to her cousins house for a couple hours afterwards.

So, I went without edc sidearm.  All the rest of edc was standard.

I gotta say I ain't never felt so NAKED in all my life.  I chose to not take it and leave it in the car or any such, just to see if I missed it.  Missed it about 1/2 mile from the house.

I ain't never felt so strip stark buck naked in well-- ever.  Even when I was just like that.  Now I know and unarmed  will never happen again.  If I go somewhere I will have a firearm on my person or close at hand.  If I cannot carry I will not go to that venue.

FYI for the past 6 years if I had pants on, I had a sidearm.  I guess I got used to it.

I went through my get home bag over the weekend and tossed things that were expired or had gotten icky from the heat and the cold of living in the car.  I got rid of the bulky and heavy MREs and replaced them with eight long-lasting, 400-calorie bars that take up less than half the room of one MRE.  I also combined two bags - with the MREs gone I had the room to put my extra pair of sneakers into the get home bag (I often wear shoes that are fine for bebopping around doing errands, but would be almost as bad as bare feet for walking for a couple days to get home).  I still need to decide what medications, if any, I want to carry in the bag.  I never used any of the Benadryl/Tylenol/etc. and I don't expect to need antibiotics/antibiotic cream in the time it'd take to walk home from most of the places I go on a regular basis (two days tops), though I do have antiseptic wipes and plenty of bandaids/bandages.  It was definitely time to go through it all and it's nice knowing everything's been refreshed.
