Few days ago my mom texted me saying she needed help on an upholstery job.. Had to go pick up an old barbers chair from a parcel of land that was being foreclosed upon. Anyways we got the chair but the shed had all kindsa goodies in it... Picked up a 10lb sledge with the wedged backside a 3 1/2' CROWbar 4 reels 2 rod'n'reels a nice short handled shovel 2 (3 man) tents and a slew of other misc goods... also caught a scorpion! Named him Mjolnir.

I know when you click on the pic the quality is horrible my phone takes crap pics inside the house :(

Those 8Ns did have an available front end loader made by Dearborn.

They came in all kinds of crazy configurations.

made soap... and started this lil weird knife... was at work the other day and started to draw a chick. Naturally started with the torso and hips then thought of how that'd make a cool blade.

This thread needs to keep rolling
Some "junk" I picked up this past week and a cute little 66 as well. none of the junk went over 25 bucks. Looking forward to rebuilding the old Colt and maybe the spanish copy of a Smith (might be too lose to bother) the papoose is only missing its mag and a lot of pretty. Anyone recognize those sweet barrels :)

Wouldn't dream of butchering that $10 beauty,
It also isn't leaving my working collection.

Kinda shifting gears in my thinking on my preps and probably gonna jump back into repairing junk guns and building some more homemade boom sticks for future trade material as well as stocking up on more hardware, consumables and vehicle parts as I'm pretty comfortable with the other areas now, gonna hit the flea market on the way home today see if there's any deals. I was thinking of stashing some more silver but I suspect a few more .38s and .22s would be just as good or better when things go south. I'm actually thinking the handguns may be very desirable and hard to come by, not to mention they are incredibly easy to cashe with ammo off site now and retrieve later.

Just remember that you can't eat silver. Unless there is a real serious reason for wanting to be able to buy things in the last days before the coming darkness I would advise you to avoid precious metals.

Now a single shot .22 and a box or two of ammo.. that is a fine trade idem!

The silver is for paying off the balance of the mortgage when the monetary system blows up as I suspect it will exchange favorably for paper if things hold somewhat together. I trust it more than having a little cash on hand for emergencies.

Actually I prefer to have my little bit of reserve cash in old U.S. mint coins, fast and easy not to mention they seem to keep well ahead of actual inflation.

What have I done to prep lately? I bought a house. Small rural townof about 2000 people. Old victorian with a nice deep full basement. The old cistern wall was broke out into a crude doorway. Thick-ass stone foundation. Once we get it sorted from moving, will make a very nice shelter and storage. Also we have a old carriage house (small barn, really) that has alot of potential, but also won't be cheap, nor easy to make it into something usable. All of this on just under an acre of land. The neighbors all have huge gardens, and that will spur me into starting one also. Lots of work to do, but it's a labor of love really.

We usually do all our canning up at my Mom's house but for some damned reason I bought a bushel box of peaches today and said "Fuck it, we'll do it live."

Turns out I don't own a pot big enough to cover the jars with water!

So today I bought two cheap Wal-Mart stock pots that are deep enough to fit 1qt. jars.

Mmmmmm. Good idea TG. I need to start canning again. It's peach and blue berry season here. See great Blue Berry recept below... :))

Hey Crudos, congrats on the house purchase. It sounds great.

Last weekend I:

> Put up insulation in the walls seperating the down stair b-rooms.
> Brought up from the celler and then pre cut the tounge & groove for the B-room walls. I then stacked the T&G with broken up
cedar shingles in between each board in my b-room to bring the T&G up to the same moistier content as the room (s).
> Planted turnips

This weekend I:

> Harvested my garlic. By the way you can keep the garlic flower I think its called a bulbils, and plant the individual seeds from the
    bulbils too
> Planted carrots in the garlics place in the garden
> Planted more lettuce
> Now that the living & dinning room and hallway hard wood floor is down I sorted the cherry boards we have put away to be
layed in the two down stair b-rooms.

Last, I planted a late crop of sweet corn the first week of July. It is now about 4' high and doing well. I am hoping for sweet corn around the first week of September just in time for Labor Day weekend.

Awesome man!  That's a huge step in the right direction if you used to be in a urban area.  You're going to be happy you did.   [URL=http://www.smileyvault.co

We've been out of the large city urban environment for about 4+ years now, and don't miss it at all. Rural 'Merica, fuck yeah!

Saved up some cash, got my paycheck, n a lil pre bday cash. Bought a stripped palmetto state armory receiver. After commiefornia fees n taxes, I paid about $140. Next I plan to legally purchase standard capacity mags this weekend. Cant decide if it should be 10 or 25 because of the election. But gotta stretch out my cash because I gotta fend credit card debit and dont know how long my job will last. Will update next week.

Cut and split 3 cords of wood. Not stacked yet!

Each morning this week, when I have gotten up, my lower back is getting worst and worst.  :) I guess I am not lifting properly  [img]http://www.arrse.co.uk/at

Keep back straight and lift with your legs...Lift with your legs...Lift with your legs...

Dude's and dudets. enroute home from work I got a call that the water heater hose had a hole and has been leaking water all over all night. While I was at work. ( Midnight to Eight ) So I go home, climb into my neighbors garden  [img]http://www.arrse.co.uk/at ---- [img]http://www.arrse.co.uk/at ---- to find the water main valve to MY house because it is for some  [url=http://yoursmiles.org/p-m reason in their yard. Anyway. After fudging with that for your god knows how long I got it fixed. On the way home from lowes I see a yard sale. Ok, cool I got a couple bucks. Dude has a fiber glass canoe 18 footer. Looks pretty much broke in but not torn to shreds. So he wanted 425 for it. I said no way I don't have that kind of coin.

Then I offered him my duplicate R870. He excepted not knowing much about guns. I gave him a quick low down. We exchanged some info. And I went on my way with my new family member.  [URL=http://www.smileyvault.co That is what I have done to prep today. Fixed my 40 gallons of stored water. And brought home a canoe at the cost of a duplicate shotty. I think I win today.  :))

I bought 4#'s of honey ($2.50 a LB)

My wife bought 150 #'s of potatoes ( 50 LB Yukon Gold $10-, 50 LB white all purpose $10- and 50 LBs red $15-). We are going to split the potato haul with the farmer across the road up at the cabin.

Going out today to buy apples. Due to a warm March then a hard frost in April, most of the apple crop in the area of the cabin was destroyed. Back home here in RI; they didn't have that issue. Looking for $25- a bushel...
