Maybe Crookedsights but an acre is around 40,000 sf.

Also remember, what it takes to support a man is different from NM to lets say VA. Water, sun and furtile soil all plays a part.

Picked up an 18 speed for the cost of a case of beer... Well half a case. Now I just need to find a seat that doesn't feel like it's giving me a vasectomy.

This past week, I've doubled my fresh drinking water storage and begun a workout program. I'm still trying to quit smoking, but it's difficult. The weather doesn't seem to be cooperating today, so digging my garden will have to wait until the ground dries out again.

my great gandpa died about a month ago and yesterday my aunt called me and told me to get whatever I wanted from his shed.

I grabbed a few sentimental things, but I also got

-20oz can of turpentine
-5 wire tomato trellis's
-1 cabbage plant
-3 wild onions
-10hp electric motor
-6' ladder
-50 yards of clothesline
-lots of miscellaneous gardening tools
-8 mason jars w/lids and rings
and some other random stuff

some of the things aren't exactly prepping related but I view all the gardening stuff as useful preps.

1) Bought a 1947, 8N Ford Tractor

Sorry for the blurry Pic. My wife isn't the best picture taker.  :))

2) Buried my underground electric and telephone conduit at the BOL.

3) Pulled the telephone cable through the underground conduit. I will pull the cable in the cabin tomorrow so the
telephone tech can hook up next week. . We will finally have DSL at the BOL! Don't know when I will have the electric cable
pulled from the pole to the cabin though. I kind of like our solar set-up.

YEAH JMAC!!!

One bit of advice I was saving for when you owned the machine is to never pull anything "heavy" from the drawbar. Notice the spot for a hitch on the from bumper? Thats where you really pull from.

No point flipping it over!

Thx RvR & TG. Funny story.

The farmer (One of us) across the way and I picked her up. The plan was to put her on his dbl axil trailer. I fired up the tractor and went to put her on the trailer and he stopped me.

He requested that I back her onto the trailer so that the heavy part of the tractor was over the axils. His logic was that the front was light and there was a chance I might flip it, head over stern going up the ramp and the trailer would ride better with the weight over both axils.

Kind of to your point TG pulling from the front.

We also found a small lever on the starbord side underneath the seat. We couldn't figure out what that was; however my buddy thinks it is to: a) put both tires into gear or maybe b) to put all gears into LOW. Who knows it wasn't on his Ferguson. We will figure it out tomorrow.

She is sweet.

That lever engages the pto buddy! Unless it's directly under the seat then that is the Draft control. 8Ns are awesome!

Well, I know it's been quite I while since I've been on...

I've been trudging through the beginning of the end of my marriage. I'm moved out. And have A lot less responsibilities... Working damn near all the time leaves me time for little else. Regardless of my situation I'm still a prepper.
In a way this is better. Anyways.

Got my winchester .22lr MODEL:190 back from my grampa.

Got a job so:CASH FLOW

Beginning a bit of cross-fit.

I've completely minimalized my entire life style now that I'm able so other than being single and... acting as such, my time will be well spent prepping aswell.

So if there were anyone wondering if I was dead or something. No.  [url=http://yoursmiles.org/p-m

Crow: Welcome back. Hang in there man and focus on what you have control over not what you don't.

Treaded: I have seen front loaders on 8N's. I looked at one about a year ago however the price was high and then I had the issue of getting 300+ miles to the BOL. I also saw one with a big ass spike on the front to spear those big round bales of hay.

JM - I've got an old JD that's ready to give up the ghost and I see those 8Ns for sale all the time around here.  I'm going to have to go and start looking at some of them.

Prepwise:  Wrote another blog entry and reloaded 200 rounds of 5.56.

It's been raining today so other than feeding the cows and chickens not much work to be done around here.  That and having a nasty battle rhythm gives me time to get tons of shit done.
