Prepper evangelism
« on: November 14, 2016, 09:50:15 AM »
I know a lot of us are concerned with Op Sec and with people who laugh and say "I'm going to your house when the zombies come", but I want to encourage all of us to talk to someone about prepping today.  You don't need to get into politics or guns or bunkers.  Just ask someone, "what would you do if you couldn't leave your house for three days and you didn't have power?"  It's a powerful question to get people thinking.

Our times are feeling very uncertain and the best way for all of us to be safer is for all of us to be prepared.  Now, that's clearly not going to happen, but if you can get even one person to think about it and maybe put up a couple extra cans of food, then you've made a difference.  Plus, from an enlightened self-interest point of view, that's one less person to come knocking on your door in an emergency.

To Wellie's point, if each of us where to do just what she suggested we could positively affect a shit-ton of people.

Game on....

I've been trying to do this for years. Usually you just get a weird smile, and some reference to The Walking Dead or a similar show or movie. Every once in a while, I get a thoughtful expression in return. That's why I do it.

Remember Rah, that there a lot of sheep out there and the Sheep Dogs need to keep trying.

My goal is to wake-up one person or family a year. So far I have surpassed my goal this year. Maybe I will give myself a bonus of some sort.

We tend to keep what we do rather low key. Only a select few out side our circle have any idea but I still try to introduce people to the concept of prepping. I'll never start with prepping for TEOTWAWKI but rather coerce people into thinking of a sort "insurance policy". A very real and relatable scenario is job loss. Basically everyone that I know has been victim of unexpectedly being tossed out of their work place and then being stuck trying to survive so I've found that to be useful. Most will ignore me, some will put a few actions into place for that eventuality and stop there but every now and then someone will do it and then later start speaking to me about "What if" and then you know you've jump started a prepper.
I'd rather be crazy than dead.
