Hey crooked sights; give us an idea of what part of the country.  :))

Sorry guys & gals; it's only going to get worst. If you do not have at least 20 gallons squirreled away (4, 5 gallon cans) get to it!

Up at the BOL. Coming into the town Monday the local gas was $3.85 a gallon for 87. Went into town yesterday (Tuesday) and the gas is now $3.95! Wow, I think that is price gouging!! How can it be one price in the state and then 20 cents higher in another part.

I guess it is supply & demand but??????????

In CA when you get out in to the very rural desert areas its like 6 or more bucks a gallon.

i wouldn't call that gouging, but then again, is there a set amount that would be considered gouging? i think some gas stations are able to charge more depending on their location. for example, one busy street that has 10 stations within the same mile of road, most of those prices are going to be the same, but a station that's way out in bumfuck can charge more because it's not as easy to just pass it up for the next station.

To your point NOLA, the word gouging may be a bit harsh. Lets call it taking advantage of the situation.  :))

OK, I left the BOL today and as I drove south towards Philly the prices started to drop for example:

At 0 miles 87 was $3.95
20 miles south 87 was $3.85
100 miles south 87 was $3.81, and
184 miles south 87 is $3.79.

All prices were along the PA Turnpike. If you got off the Turnpike I am sure there would be spots 5 cents less then the $3.79.

Typically, (for the last six years that is) gas up at the BOL was the same price as Philly. Now their is a large price difference. ??????

It costs more to ship gas to bumphuck places; tanker trucks burn fuel, too.

Hey 1000M, my BOL isn't in bumphuck nowhere!!! Whoops, actually you are right...it is  :)) Sorry man.  ;)

On another note: It really bum's me out when an obvious retired person gets only $5- worth of gas when I am at the pump. Thank heavens the winter in the east has been so mild. Could you imagine waying the cards; do I buy:

> Fuel to heat with,
> Fuel to cook with,
> Fuel to put in my vehicle,
> Food, and / or
> Medicine.

Sorry to be so dramatic....

WOW CrookedSights a 33? jump in one day!!!

Paid $3.71 in MA. the other day while 87 octane is $3.99 - $4.02 in RI. I know that part of it is local and state taxes however I always scratch my head that there could be such a difference in prices when gas stations are only a couple miles difference.
