I do not know what my blood type is. Every time I go to my doctor I ask what my blood type is? He doesn't know. Every time my Dr. sends me for a blood test I ask my Dr. to include on the script a request for my blood type. He tells me no as the insurance company will not pay for that.
Do you know your blood type? How can you find out without paying a shit-ton of money?
Thoughts?

You may want to wait for Walker to give his opinion, but they do sell home kits for blood type determination.

Try your local drug store, looks like walgreens probably sells them.

What? That's really weird man...
Its a really quick test, I got a few blood tests and in the results it always says the blood factor.
Here in Argentina you need to know it because its printed in your drivers license.
You can go to any hospital, clinic or lab and paying a small fee they give you your blood type in 5 minutes.

A pos.

Wow really TGrl? That's to cool. I will have to check it out the next time I go to the pharmacy.
An here I was visualizing long legged, auburn haired ladies in white lab coats peering into a microscope. [img]http://www.arrse.co.uk/at
Yes it is true APX...I once gave blood and on my Red Cross blood donor card it was listed. I want to say O neg but I truly do not know.
-
You might be able to find out for free. Contact you local blood bank and ask if they will let you know your blood type if you choose to donate... just sayin'.

Psst...Special K, those donor places actually put a needle in your arm and make you give a liter of YOUR OWN BLOOD! There is one thing I will never do (Jumping out of a perfectly good airplane) and several things I will only do under duress like having a needle stuck into my vein.
Every time it seems like my veins disappear and they end up sticking me umpteen times. Lately I just tell the vampires up front what is going to happen. If you want any blood or you don't want me to pass out - Use a butterfly needle and the vein on top of my hand.
Wow just talking about it is giving me the willies.

The fantasy doesn't have to end here, JM, I'm sure that's still the case for all of the blood, urine, stool samples you submit ;)
I almost took a job at a reference laboratory that runs all of those tests, so glad I turned it down. In that case it would have been a 5'3" blonde in a coffee stained lab coat peering into a microscope, doesn't quite carry the same appeal... :))

@Jmac
You big baby. :'(
-
I know mine, from being a nosy MFer at the doc's and also from donating blood back when I used to.
I'm positive! ;D
-
There are videos on YT about Rh negative coming from alien DNA. F'n creepy lizards. Lol.

You are a hoot! :))
Special-K: Damn straight! There is no freaken way or good reason to jump out of a perfectly good airplane! [img]http://www.arrse.co.uk/at
Walker: Thanks for the info man! [URL=http://www.smileyvault.co

Jumping out of a plane is fun! What's not fun about doing 120 mph without a vehicle? I'm O-neg, so I would be an asset in a bunker. Yah, O- neg !
-
hj,
O NEG? Yahoo... we have a universal donor! You have the golden elixir! Sorry to tell you this bud, but that also means you can only accept O NEG blood, found in less than 4% of the U.S. population. We better keep you safe.
Now Skippy on the other hand can take almost anyone's blood, but can only donate to another AB POS. Sorry bud, your on point...
LOL
Walker
Sounds good to me! Correct me if I'm wrong, but I've heard that O neg people can only get blood once. After the first time, my body will build up anti bodies against myself.
-
I got my blood tested for something awhile back. Is there anywhere it's hidden on the paper work? For the life of me i can't find it, The breakdown of my blood is on these pages. Although one page might be missing, i'm not sure.
-
As already mentioned, donate to the Red Cross. Plus your helping out your fellow citizens in emergency situations.
-
v0dka, just because you had your blood tested does not mean an ABO bloodtype test was performed. It is not routinely done for a physical, insurance probably won't pay for it anyway (why would they unless it is needed for a transfusion?), and again the ABO test on it's own is fairly worthless info during "normal times" other than for being a donor. It might have been done beforehand if you were about to undergo a major surgery, but once again, the surgical ward usually knows when a problem arises and can give you O NEG until a proper crossmatching can be done.
It should of been done for this, as i am at a "high risk" of injury now. ill ask this coming year about it.

AB POS; I am the ultimate cockroach. Can receive ANY Rh POS blood (75% of population). At least I have that going for me. (I believe they call that universal recipient). There is never a big donation call for my blood, however.
