Sounds of WROL

Had this siren alarm go off this morning.  I couldn't make out what the guy said over the speaker, but the siren shot me up as fast as I could.

It just got me thinking, what if this wasn't just a test?  What if that was the beginning of WROL.  Makes you wonder.

Made me feel horrible unprepared if today was the day.  Its a good reminder to get my crap together.

Ohh yeah, click on the ads, cuz like GAP says, it makes me money.  LOL  Thanks guys.

I'm sorry but I just can't bring myself to click on the "Dating chinese girls" ad, I'll load it again and see if a more tasteful ad pops up :))

Interesting and insightful take on the alarm. If it was that day I'd expect smoke plumes on the horizon and slack jawed neighbors outside looking around wondering what to do...

If it happens that way it'd be a good time to get together a community watch and check on neighbors that may need special help. I'd make sure I was subtle and didn't go chicken little or full retard immediately (such a situation should be milked for intel purposes also)

Very good post, Colombo.  Also, damn, sorry, bro.  I didn't know they had such distasteful ads on adsense.  That really sucks.  Sorry about that.  Yeah don't click the add if ts something distasteful.  I don't want your wifes and girlfriends asking why you clicked on that link!  LOL

What humorous now, as well, is that on really nice weathered Saturdays or Sundays it also sounds like the Chinese are invading around here.  I'm talking about more gunfire than a gun range, and from all sides as well.  There are at least three groups of people on their farms and land that probably pop off 1000 rounds a day on a pretty weekend day.  Sometimes I flip on the TV just to make sure something hasn't kicked off without my knowledge.  LOL   :))

Nope, never heard anything about it on the news, figured it was just a test.  I know where the siren is, it sits adjacent to the high school, which is less than a mile as the crow flies from my home.  I think they test it randomly about every month.

Is there a nuke power plant near you?  They are required to run a test of their warning system which usually includes talking beforehand.

Probably just testing. If you've not heard it before it could've been a new torando alarm system. That's what it reminds me of. Ironically my hometown in Illinois tested everyday Tuesday. Ha, I remember one day when I was about 9-10 it went off and my mom freaked the fuck out. She ran to the basement, totally forgot my ass because I was still sleep then started screaming "TORNADO." I've never ran so fast in my life. Next thing I know I'm sitting in the basement in whitey tighties trying to figure out why the hell we can see our neighbor picking strawberries in her backyard, why the hell my mom was in the basement before waking me up, and that I needed some damn clothes because it was cold lol.

Most likely, SHTF I think you'll hear a siren.
WROL, you'll hear gun fire, some screaming, and some asshole wearing a blue helmet telling you stay in your house over a loud speaker.

When the SCUDS were coming down on my ass I heard gas, gas, gas, plenty.  Thank God none of the ones fired at our position had chemical weapons in them, just high-explosives.  One of them hit 1000 meters (isn't the irony delicious?) outside our perimeter.  No injuries, but the blast wave threw me out of my cot across the tent.  That was a rare SCUD that actually escaped the patriot engagement envelope.  Once the air war was on, we had scuds 'a plenty coming at us.  The worst kind of frustration.  They are shooting at you from hundreds of miles away.  What are you gonna shoot back with, your M-16??? >:(

Nope, not one close by.
