Mark Kessler and the CSF
« on: February 25, 2013, 12:08:42 AM »
I've been digging into this police chief Mark Kessler and his purposed Constitution Security Force. The idea stems from a resolution unanimously passed in his town of Gilburton Burough which authorized the government to use "whatever means necessary" to counter local, state, and federal gun control attempts (confiscation specifically). According to interviews and his own website, the force will be all volunteer, recruits being LEO, .mil, and civilian. Everyone provides their own gear. Those who join will have no arrest powers or participate in police activities, it's strictly an auxiliary for the worst case scenario. Training and firearms qualifications will be incorporated, and when I say training, I mean TRAINING (according to his most recent interview Friday, that will be handled by ex-military acting as instructors). It's a no-holds-barred unit prepping for war.

What do you guys think of this idea? It's not the same as some of these "militia" units that the Left loves to mention. The town backed the measure and seems to be largely on board with the idea of a CSF as well. Kessler's website says he'd like to see other chapters started in every state and as many counties as possible. I think it could be a good opportunity for some of us to get the training we've always wanted, plus you have the added benefit of being organized and sanctioned by the local government.

Thoughts?

Max Velocity is starting an Appleseed program for training tactical teams in West Virginia. He hopes to train trainers from all over the country so they can go back to their states/local to then train fire teams. "I think" Matt Bracken is somehow involved also in the program but I might be wrong. I know that John Mosby gave Max a shout out.

Not sure about ammo, but members would have to supply their own gear and weapons.

Johnny, if it was taking place any closer to my locale I'd definitely check it out.

Max is going to train teams using .22 conversion bolts for AR's. The only problem is that you can't find one of these bolts - They are all back ordered.

On another note: I was in NY last week; had to buy coffee. I swung by Dick's as I had a $10- off coupon I wanted to use before it expired. I asked for a brick of high velocity .22LR. All was going well until they asked for my drivers license. I gave them my RI license and was told that they could not sell the .22's to me as I was from out of state.

I questioned the clerk as I bought a brick last fall from the same store. He told me that due to the new NY Gun Control law, retailers were only allowed to sell ammo to NY residents and each purchase had to be recorded AND I could only buy certain qty's at a time.

I asked the clerk how these new laws were affecting business and he told me that in the firearm related section of the store business was down 95%! He then went on to tell me that for ammo, NY customers were just crossing over into PA. to buy their ammo. I suspect that is the case in Vermont, New Jersey and Connecticut too.

That's just messed up. I'm never living in NY.

I've got some steel .223 I wouldn't mind using for training, since I'm only buying brass from now on. Honestly, I'd be grateful for any professional help at this point if I could just break away from school long enough to do it.

I really like this idea.  Brings back the "rifle behind every blade of grass" mentality.  It's just unfortunate that we are beginning to use that mentality to counter our own gub.

If they did this in my current AO, I'd happily join.

Aslong as the "Trainers" were willing and open to new ideas, id join. Ive already taken a course by the guy who trained SWAT in CA for so many years up until a few years ago. Talk about outdated garbage. Ive located a group of 45 preppers in my area. Theres a store in town now. He told me they have meetings and go shooting etc. I think i MIGHT go see what they are up to and help where i can. But i fear its a lost cause with a bunch of people with years of mental development yet to go.

I can't remember if it was Max Velocity or Matt Bracken, but one of the better known authors in the Liberty sphere stated that tactical training should be done by military people only, since they're job description was killing the enemy. Maybe Kessler read that essay. I'm sure there will be a teacher meeting to discuss the proper curriculum.

Yeah assuming they are special forces they might have quality training. Your average grunt is taught dummy proof ways of fighting. Hell even snipers in vietnam were issued scopes with an external dial you just dial to the required range and pull the trigger. If the atmosphere conditions are close enough youll hit the guy. That system got more kills but a well trained sniper would be better off with a normal scope to make fine adjustments. BDC scopes today are a similar dummy proofing device. It gets more rounds on target with an under skilled marksman.
