Title: The Need for Cash
Post by: Jackalope on July 26, 2018, 08:07:16 PM
It's been discussed here a few times regarding keeping some spare cash available, just in case.  There's also the argument for keeping hard currency, i.e., silver or gold, for the in-between times.  That's the period where paper currency no longer holds a value, yet folks aren't ready to barter only for tanglible goods, like food and ammunition.  It could be argued too that hard currency will have value in the recovery period, after the SHTF.  Tom Sherry's "Shattered" novel series illustrate well the use of hard currency in an extended recovery.

Anyways, here's an article regarding the need for cash: https://www.ammoland.com/2018/07/when-your-credit-card-fails-to-work/ (https://www.ammoland.com/2018/07/when-your-credit-card-fails-to-work/)   Credit Cards and EBT cards are certainly weak links in modern, first world society.

I've posted a few times on this subject and I'm glad you posted the article. Just like the guy in the story I practiced what I preach.
A while ago while obama was still in office I told the head teller I was thinking of taking out a large amount of cash out of my savings account. She said they don't have that much extra on hand. The next day I went back to the bank to ask them to order me the money. She told me the office manager had heard me the day before and ordered the cash. They asked me only one question "Do you know what your doing and are you in any trouble".
