Welcome to SP Ronin. Make yourself at home.

wasn't there a guy named "ronin" on the LnL forums?

wasn't there a guy named "ronin" on the LnL forums?
Pretty sure there was, but it's a common username. Guess we'll find out though. Hey wait, wasn't he the government snitch? :o Just messin'
-
I remember SilentSnake. That guy always took so much shit for going against the tide and standing by what he believed in.

LOL! That was pretty good. No offense ronin.

Welcome Ronin, hope you find this little community useful in your preps. :D
-
Welcome to our humble abode Ronin and as for your topic yeah people need to stop doing that, buying ammo from assholes and scumbags is only gonna make it worse.
-
Wow! Ignorance AND profanity in his first post. I'm impressed. I gather this dude doesn't have a degree in economics. It's a supply side issue. DeltaHotelSierra is purchasing so much ammo it is artificially restricting the supply for the rest of us, thus raising prices. Yawn. [img]http://www.arrse.co.uk/at

You're telling me that if people didn't stop paying this ridiculous prices on ammo they wouldn't go down? LOL Go to your local walmart and ask them if they are getting less ammo, they will tell you they are getting the same shit they always have. It's a well known fact that there are groups of guys who are waiting every morning for shipments to buy that shit up, for the sole reason of re-selling it. Where do you live? Under a rock?
-
Ronin, welcome to the site. SP has a great group of gals & guys contributing to the forum.
Other than shotgun shells in the fall; none of the ChinaMarts sell ammo around me here in RI. The local mom & pop's here as well as near the family hunting cabin NE PA. are limiting ammo purchases to buyers which I have posted before. None of the mom & pop's that I shop at have jacked their prices up other than the normal keystone mark-up.
In RI as well as PA, ammo sales have skyrocketed not do to the ammo shortage. It is because of the draconian ammo purchase laws that , CT., MA., and NY has or have imposed on their citizenry.
Last I would like to add, that I have not seen any of my friends in RI or PA buying up large quantities of ammo to resell at inflated prices. I have received calls from friends while they are in a store asking me if I would like a box or two of X as it is on the shelf - I have done likewise. I am not saying that some folks are not doing what you wrote; however that is capitalism. Won't it be funny when they are stuck with a shit-ton of ammo and have to sell it below what they paid for it. :o
Again Ronin, welcome on board.

It's a well known fact that there are groups of guys who are waiting every morning for shipments to buy that shit up, for the sole reason of re-selling it.
To be fair, this tactic is nothing new. It just becomes more apparent when panic kicks into effect. Gougers will be gougers no matter the economy and other side-show events going on.
-
Exactly, i'm not bringing any breaking news. I'm simply saying that if we continue to buy at these outrageous prices they will never come down. Make these fuckers eat the shit.

Well signs of supply are starting to show. Turners Outdoorsman, a chain of gun stores here in Cali, is starting to advertise having ARs (stripped lowers and completed) and AKs (Arsenal).
http://www.turners.com/engage/displayads.php (http://www.turners.com/engage/displayads.php)
The prices are insane which is too be expected. Stripped lower from unknown company is $160, Arsenal AK is $1600, M&P 15 SPORT is going for about $1,200. No ammo is advertised though. I know the prices arent the best but I wasnt expecting them to be advertising that they had black rifles until at least halfway through summer. Hopefully ammo avaliablity and lower prices are will come soon as well.

I remember SilentSnake. That guy always took so much shit for going against the tide and standing by what he believed in.
Elaborate further please. To stay on topic pm me please I'm curious

Supply must be getting a little better because a local small tac shop I visit frequently actually had a couple boxes each of the pistol calibers in and the prices were in line with pre-BS.
-
I've been able to find a box or two of pistol blammo here and there for the classic price.. 5.56.. not so lucky.
-
The best I have been able to find in 223/5.56 is a Federal can of 420 rnds of 62gr green tip for $200-. I texted my friend and he asked me to pick it up...Which I did. It's pretty sad to pay 48? a round [img]http://www.arrse.co.uk/at

Went by the local dicks sporting goods yesterday, guess what the guy behind the counter told me. "Every morning the same guys from "name withdrawn" gunshop are here to buy up mostly everything. As a matter of fact you could probably go up there and peal off their price tag and find ours under it.."
Don't worry, I will be driving up there to check out these price tags. And if I am lucky enough to find this, I will be putting something nice together for the local paper.

Exact same thing happens here, a guy who owns a pawn shop comes in and buys ammo every morning.
-
And while we bitch about it, they have every right to do it. Still if they are charging outrageously for it, makes you wanna throat punch someone...
-
Here something that made my day, I decided to go look at the gun department at my local Wally World after school, long story short I bought 2 3/4 Winchester 1oz slugs for $4.95 including tax and they had up to 10 boxes, I do believe that stock is coming back and people are calming down. Just a little something that made me happy ^-^
-
[URL=http://www.smileyvault.co Hope this whole BS situation at least works to improve supply output.

Part of the problem with the second article about departments running low is the officers. I know for a FACT that local LEO's will be issued x number of rounds to practice with. What ends up happening though is that they shoot up a quarter of what they are given and squirrel away the rest for "that day".
And yea, 12 gauge seems to be the most easily found "common" caliber, so stocking that up as well.

Doesn't it make you sick to your stomach? I haven't shot my AR in over a month because of this..

I cleaned out the Socorro, NM Sprawl-Mart today, 3 boxes of 12g slugs same ammo and price as Alex got.
On a plus note Socorro's Gamble Ace Hardware has about 25 boxes of 40S&W for $32 a box.. they can keep it for that price but if you are hurting send me a PM.

I went to the Wannamacher's gun show in Tulsa this weekend.
Boxes of 5.7mm were $80-$120 per 50
Boxes of early 60's 7.62 NATO was $30 per 20
550rd packs of federal .22lr were $90
Steel case .223 was $10-$15 per 20
Brass .223 and 5.56 was running about $1 per round
AK's (WASR's mostly) started at $900
AR's started at $1,200
ALL modern handguns were over $400 (EAA's, Hi-Points, Sigma's, etc)
-
.22LR at 16? a round is ridiculous!
I growled when my brother bought and bought and bought so many boxes of .22LR bulk that I finally told him to STOP...ENOUGH!! Well maybe I was wrong. He double vacuum sealed each 500+ box and we use it rather than .223/5.56 in the AR's and 1911 hand guns we "may" own or not.
Yesterday, I was looking through my in between front seats glove compartment and I found a box of 550 Federal 36 gr 22LR. I don't remember if my brother or I bought them and when [img]http://www.arrse.co.uk/at

You were in town and didn't even stop to say hello? Dick... lol
ANYWAYS, stopped by China mart yesterday to do some milling around at just the right time. The guy was putting up the days stocks of ammo right as we got there. There were 4 boxes of brass 5.56 and about 3-4 dozen of .223, some .45 and several boxes of shotgun shells. We walked out with as much as we could and it was probably the biggest haul we have had in a while.
We were also told that the one caliber that disappears quicker than a free anything at an Occupy rally is .22. The worker said that he had a bunch of it that came in the other day and it didn't last 30 minutes.
-
sorry man, didn't know you were in tulsa, they have them pretty often, i'll be at the next one too [URL=http://www.smileyvault.co

I saw the damnedest thing in Albuquerque yesterday...
We went up to Sportsman's Warehouse to look at their lovely shelves, they really are lovely yellow pine with a heavy lacquer. I got half way down a set of shelves that held at least a full ton of bullets primers and powder back in 2010 when I saw a sign that said ".224 bullets behind counter, ask at desk."
Barnes BX(?) and a whole pile of other shit that is too light for my barrel but they had it, a whole shopping cart of bullets.
I walked out with a couple of boxes of 00 and 1.5oz slugs... they still have plenty of those...
-
Just got done trimming a few pounds of #00 pellets. Ive got a ton of components its just that pesky loading it step... Im loadin #00 2.75" for 30 cents a round and thats with brand new high end federal high brass hulls and federal primers. Ive located lead at a good price. [img]http://www.smileydesign.n

So, not that I want to keep beating this very dead horse, but..............my buddy went by our local gun shop this week to see if he could find any .223 or .22lr. Amazingly he found some. Here's the kicker. A 550 round box of .22lr ??? $120 :o
A 500 round box of Remington UMC .223 ??? $1,000 :o
I'm rich bitches!!! Would it be horrible of me to make a YT video of me filling my bath tub with ammo and rolling around in it?
-
WW, do it, do it now!
Ken... what happened to 'I don't reload?' Just busting your balls, it does make sense to do so if you have the time.

I'm trying to remember. I think it was Reaver who predicted that the day would come when lead would be more valuable than gold. Enjoy your new found wealth WW. : )
