Media Blackout ????
« on: March 07, 2016, 01:21:53 PM »
Have you noticed there isn't anything in the news about the middle east. Only a few exceptions being B-52s being sent and B1s coming home. Nothing said about the cease fire, whether it is working or being broken. What happened to the large buildup of troops on Turkeys boarder?  :hiding:

Yeah JoJo now that you mentioned it I haven't read much at all.

I usually look for articles from the Daily Telegraph (Formerly UK Daily Telegraph) to get good journalistic coverage from the Middle East BUT nothing new.

There is a buildup not only on the Turkish border but in Saudi Arabia along the Syrian border. There is a cease fire at the moment which Russia brokered in Syria. Maybe that is why there is no news.

North Korea just threatened the U.S. with a Nuke attack but nobody is taking it serious.

what Crudos said and North Korea has been threatening to nuke South Korea, Japan the US of A and whom ever they wanted to impress since the 1960's.  i remember the "oceans of fire" comment from yesteryear.

if they wanted to be a pest, the only delivery system they have that would work is a shipping container.  effective but not as chic as a giant flying phallic symbol.

The world is full of idiots, short sighted and just plain mean people - been that way since cavemen were wielding sticks with a hostile attitude.  My opinion is that we will have self inflicted set backs (like a bad actor with a nuke, a banker with a bright idea or just a pig in a CAFO with the antibiotic-resistant sniffles).  i just hope to not be at ground zero and be able to help my family through the incident, its fall out, the follow on effects and come out ahead in the recovery.  - that may be overly optimistic but i would rather try and fail than guarantee the failure by inaction or ignorance.

Ok; so that's a long winded way of saying this has been going on for decades - DPRK vs RoK.  The Eagle vs the Bear.  Ottomans vs the Eastern Roman Empire, Lilliput vs Blefuscu ...  it is more or less a constant.  Can you point to something that makes this situation any more or less dangerous than the Cuban missile crisis?  Be ready, be aware, continue on - i try and remember that luck favors the prepared.

Less Dangerous.

Kim Jung Il is 5600 or so miles away.  Not 90.
