SHTF & family
« on: December 10, 2011, 02:23:08 AM »
So I don't know if this has been covered yet I don't think it has. So I don't know how many of you live in a suburban area along with most of your family living pretty damn close. But where I'm living now I have five households within 12 miles that are direct family. All of which are not preppers and all of them but my grandma have no useful skills what so ever ( grandma is a pro at canning food at home and making clothes) but everyone else is of almost no use and are lazy. But I know if anything ever happened I would be the first place for them to come because I am the only one in my family besides my dad that has firearms ( and he only has a .22). And I don't have the funds or the space to prep for that many people. So in the event that something happens what would be the best way to go about it. I have a decent amount of preps but not enough to share. And I'm not to sure on how I would handle a situation like this until it arises. I think I would have to send them packing if they are no use to me what are your thoughts guys.

Sorry for the long post

This is actually a very important topic  [URL=http://www.smileyvault.co  +1 Kudos for that.

I know some of you are not going to like my answer and are probably just going to shrug it off as " Reaver's Mumbo " but here it goes.

My take on it is.
I have many family in my area, always have. Though I do not talk to them currently & I too know who they will be coming to when something stupid happens. To me though they are not family they are leaches and will be dealt with as such.

I mean really K

If they don't do anything with me, only talk to me when they need cash or a place to stay... what am I supposed to do?
Let them leach me? To hell with that, So pull them off and toss them back to the mud hole where they latched onto you.

I have family in the area. And i get on quite well with them. Quite a few have skills and talents that would be of use in a bad situation. So i would definitley keep my family close in a bad time. even though im veiwed as the crazy ass one who is prepping for the ZomPoc, and they go about their lives asleep(DESPTE MY EFFORTS TO CHANGE THAT). They are good people and ill help them out.

well although i agree with reaver.. deal with them as any other... also take the scenario into account. it seems lately it almost goes without saying on this forum that when the SHTF its for a very long time and we all start killing off friends and family. so lets not put grandma down just yet... is it an earthquake with 1 month without power or is jesus flying through the sky taking all his followers to heaven and he missed your house..

i bet youd feel pretty bad if you killed your family over a short incident that seemed really bad but suddenly righted itself. so lets not get too caught up in the end of the world as we know it type stuff so that way when the shit does hit the fan we can be cool calm and collected and not think "no i know this is it guys... hey get off my porch grandpa or your toast!!"

but yes in certain situations you will have to make the decision.. is this family member worth risking all that ive prepared for? maybe some times the answer is no... but some times its yes too. And karma might help you out or burn your ass in those decisions aswell. take it all into account and make the best decision with the situation at hand.

Well, turning them away isn't the same as offing them either.
