No rounds penetrated his body armor, and he made it home with no permanent injuries. This happened in Kunar Province, Afghanistan.
*READ* From the cameraman:
" I got a hit a total of 4 times. My helmet cam died and i made it down the mountain on my own. I was also hit in the side of my helmet and my eye pro was shot off of my face. We were doing overwatch on the village to recon and gather intel. I was point heading down the face of the hill with the LT. when we got hit. the rest of the squad was pinned down by machine gun fire. I didn't start the video until a few mins into the firefight for obvious reasons. I came out into the open to draw fire so my squad could get to safety."
"A round struck the tube by my hand of the 203 grenade launcher which knocked it out of my hands. When I picked the rifle back up it was still functional but the grenade launcher tube had a nice sized 7.62 cal bullet hole in it and was rendered useless. "

Lucky duck for sure. Its amazing how little a camera can show the horror of the guy its filming in a situation like this. His mind must have been in total panic survival mode.

For sure... rounds were hittin the dirt all around him and still he only swears a couple times before finally getting hit laying behind a rock that probably felt like hiding behing a single brick. And to think he had to get up the next morning and go right back out there. Atleast im assuming he had no injury to take him out of the fight?...

The description of the video contains a word from the soldier in the video, all rounds were stopped by the armor and no permanent damage done. At least physically...

My good buddy has been involved in 7 IED/VBIED
attacks, taken several bullets to the plates, and was even stabbed.
None of that was an issue for him. He realized one day, only after he had come
home and had nothing to do or occupy his time... That he'd spent the last 8 years
killing people and that wasn't normal.
He started having panic attacks and talking to himself. Stuff like that.
He said he realized that thing would get worse for him after talking
with the VA. He ended up shutting then out and suppressing everything.
Eventually he just came to terms with it. He deploys again soon.
Still in the ARMY and still loves his job.
It's people like him and people like the soldier in this video that
helped me feel confident in joining myself. These are the kinda people
you fight for in that type of situation. We're occupying that country,
that's all there is to it- the politics of it aren't anywhere near as important
As making sure the guy to your left and right make it home.
I can't wait to occupy on their bitch-asses.

Absolutely correct that the bolded part is 100% the most important thing.
HOWEVER... saying that the occupation does not matter and that you would support it to defend them is asinine. Why support an action that puts your brothers in harms way, some to be carried home, when NOT supporting occupation could remove the threat to them immediately. Just sayin....

Everyone in the military volunteered. At this point, people still volunteer knowing they are going to war. I volunteered to join and when I get the option to volunteer for deployment
I will do that- as many do.

You're not following what Im saying. You can not support the occupation all you want but the powers that be will continue it as long as they please. But why feed yourself to that very system which just perpetuates it? Not everyone that volunteers to go to war knows truly what the F*** it is all about. We live in a mother F***ing war complex culture where such is glorified! And people have obviously become highly susceptible to modern propaganda influences such as Call of Duty, main stream media spin and Hollywood.
Honestly I was going to write more but it's not worth it. I am not trying to talk you out of joining or supporting the mean and women who serve(d). Do what you think is right. Not like we have a whole lot of time left anyway. Best of luck to you.

Technique, I have very high respect for you and your choice. There is more to this that I will guarantee you will at least see and experience. I feel I must respectfully mention that those initial minutes, hours and days and sometimes but rarely even years of the results on those that will be so very close to you should be considered and unfortunately expected.
Again nothing but respect but please talk to your friend and do this with complete awareness and your eyes open to all that's involved.

I think a majority of the youngsters who join the military do it because its either cool or they have no other prospects for income. A small portion do it to serve their country though.
The rock n roll adds of guys jumping out of helicopters and shit works great.

well dont get your panties in a bunch a very big chance you wont deploy, my BN got our deployment mission scratched now only a few higher ups from my Company are going (CO and my PSG....pretty pissed)
