Saving instead of spending
« on: October 10, 2022, 05:19:10 PM »
I'm going to contradict myself here but just bare with me. Three or four days ago, I went into the kitchen to get myself a soft drink out of the frig. All of a sudden there started a loud rattling and banging sound that sounded like it was coming from the bottom of the frig. Hmmmm..... My first thought was, "Uh oh, I might have to buy a new frig. What a piece of junk, it only lasted 27 years." Then I told the SOB that I didn't care if it broke down because I've been saving my money and I could just go to Home Depot or Lowes and pay cash for a new one. Hmmmm... I guess it heard me because iot hasn't made a sound like that since. Then I told the wife that we might have to buy a new refridgerator soon because of that noise it made. Well, she wants one of those $4000 fridges that are huge and do everything except cook breakfast for you. I told her that would be nice but I'll be damned if would spend that kind of money on a frig that would outlive both of us. We're both 77. Then I asked, "What color do you want?" I really don't care if its side by side doors or top door and bottom door. I don't even mind if its a little larger than the one we have now. The economist are saying, If you want or need something, buy it now before we go into hyperinflation. I'm just glad that I've been able to save some money and also buy some Physical Silver before the SHTF. If you look real close at the fan blades, you'll see that they are already starting to turn brown.

Good luck Brother. We ordered our new fridge July 2021 and it was delivered October 2021 - Three months. Guess what? It was made in China and it was a GE Fridge

Buy a Kenmore.  I have purchased 3 in the past 40 years.  All were Kenmore.  I still have one from about 11 years ago.

Fair warning, I had to replace the icemaker in the prior one, and the current one needs a new one now.  I have the replacement part but have not got motivated enough to install it yet.

Kenmore.  Nuff said.  Even if they are made in china.  Which is likely true.

My presnt fridge is a Whirlpool and it was installed when I had my house built in 1995. I don't even know if anybody sells Whirlpools anywhere. The only thing that I never liked about it was everytime the thing kicks on it has always made a loud POP. That happens about every 20 minutes or so. Anyway, as long as that thing keeps stuff cold I'll just let it do its thing until it quits. Having all the appliances match and be installed was part of the deal when I had the house built. So far, only the washing machine has had to be replaced but I wasn't able to find one that matched the color of the other appliances so I just bought a white one. My cousin was a Contractor and he built the house for me. I have no idea why he installed a water source right behind the Fridge but its there in case I want to buy a Fridge that makes Ice and/or delivers Cold Water.

Home Depot.

They may still have a 6 month zero interest if you use their plastic.
