When I worked in the real world, my work motto always was, Inspect what you expect, with respect.
I would give an assignment with details on what I wanted to an employee.
Partway through the process, usually 1/3, I would inspect with respect the assignment and make changes if needed.
At the end of the assignment whether it was cleaning a bathroom in a store or developing a new part of a sales plan, I would always review and 95% of the time praise the result. The other 5%, I may make some minor tweaks.
All of these steps were done every time with respect of the employee and his/her work.
At this writing, I cannot think of one employee or colleague that ever let me down.
