Title: Results of our first Confrence call.
Post by: thatGuy on September 16, 2011, 02:02:24 PM
Hey Gang,

We had confrence call last night, the goal was to shake out some of the issues that we have been having with the site.

It was decided that the VFW Hall will be closed. It will be replaced with a section that has a disclaimer page ahead of it.

Another change that is going to be made is that there will be a section devioted to "theories."

We are also working on a whole host of physical improvements to the forum layout.

It grows as it goes guys.

I would have liked to have been on that call, too.  LOL  Well anyway, sounds great guys, and I think this is probably for the best.   [URL=http://www.smileyvault.co

However, I did kind of like a place where we could post stuff and just War Heroes could see it, but I understand why ya'll want to do away with it, as TCS mentioned.

However, it may just be good to have a tin foil conspiracy theory section, and then of course, keep the VFW, but its your call.  Cool beans.

Hey fellow preparedness enthusiasts!  Hopefully we can make the conference calls available to anyone who would like to participate in the future.

VFW?

It was a super secret squirl thread that all the guys with "war hero" status (previous forum members) could go to.... so we could argue behind closed doors...

I think we got our inspiration from the wrong group...

Ah. I was on the old forum when it was coughing out it's last breathe. I wasn't, 'part of the group' by any means.

EJR and Frosty,

It was based on dick girth and length- You guys didn't measure up.  :))

I am just pulling your leg. The conference call application was a new method of exchanging idea's and to be quite frank we didn't know how it would work with more then 5 or 6 folks on it. I will say that it was tough with the 6 or saw Alpha dogs that were on the call to get a word in as it was. ;)

At the end of the call TG was very clear that we need to work towards getting more folks; if not all, on future calls. I think that the maximum we could have at one time on the CC was 20ish.

I am going to look into doing the next call through gotomeeting.com (GTM). This will allow folks to call-in or attend via the internet. This will cost some bucks though; around $50- a month (With contract $500 a year). GTM will also allow more folks to exchange their idea's via voice or in writing, hence more will be accomplished and more folks will be heard.

Thank you for your patience and please stay tuned for the next mtg.....

Have you guys looked into Ventrilo or Teamspeak?  That's a lot cheaper than $50/month.

Only downside is that you need a mic for your PC.

Vertitas and Frosty,
you gents are 100% correct. The challenge is that many of us don't have access to at least DSL let alone a cable or T1. So we are trying to incorporate low tech and high tech to meet all needs. Not right not wrong just the facts.

Several of us are actually using "hot spots" to communicate when on a computer. I heard somewhere (Forget where I heard this) but two guys are still using "dial-up." What the fuck???? :))

Behind the scenes I am hearing ya' and...PLEASE keep the suggestions coming. Trust me, a conference call isn't the way to make the next meeting happen.

Hey guys I know somebody mentioned an issue with the Personal messages , sorry I cant remember who brought it up.

I think they were wanting it to show the PM like a continuous conversation so if you wanted to go back to it at anytime you could see what you had written and continue the conversation. I might be wrong but try this.   Go to profile, hover over modify profile, go down to personal messaging. Where it says "display personal messages change it from "All at once" to "As conversation"  check the box below so that says "Save a copy of each personal message in my sent items by default"  That should get  it to do what you were asking I believe , hope it helps if any of you have any questions let me know.

I'm all up for a blogtv.  We could give everyone 5 minutes to get up there and speak, and a moderator could be the blog host.

Its a way to get stuff done.

We are going to be working on setting up a BlogTV in the coming days and weeks but I would like to mention (as one of the people with a shitty internet connection) that high bandwidth communications like BlogTV leave some guys out.

If we forgo theri participation we lose their knowlage.

Maybe some type of combination of BlogTV and telephone.  The guys with slow internet connections could call in to someone with a webcam and go on speaker phone.

DEMCAD does it all the time on his Sunday night show.

The confrence call was a great thing but if we go more than 5 or 6 folks its gonna get tough to get a word in. So yeah im all for a blog tv. and perhaps we can get one of you fine folks out there to host a regular show perhaps bi-monthly and have geust speakers from the forum on. ethier via computer or phone. and those of us in the audiance can type in questions or topics and the host can run the show. Just my .02 cents

I think blog TV would be the best bet for sure.

I'm all for it, and I would be happy to host and or moderate on my blogtv bi monthly or weekly, whatever you guys need me to do.  I also have unlimited nationwide hardline telephone, so I could have people call in, then put them on speaker and boom, we're good to go.  Whatever you guys want.   [URL=http://www.smileyvault.co

as Veritas said Ventrilo Or Teamspeak are used for gaming chat all the time.. very cheap plenty of free ones.. server prices all depend on how many people you expect to have on   cant wait .. this channel is going to take of it will be a great time here for the entertainment/knowledge/and building a brotherhood(not leaving and women out just the wording I picked)
