(Jul 18 0214UTC) A C6 Solar Flare erupted a few hours ago but due to its impulsive nature, coronal particles were not ejected.
(Jul 17 1959UTC) Analysis of SOHO coronagraphs and STEREO images reveals a WEAK halo eruption occurring earlier today. Impact is expected to occur Tuesday night-Wednesday morning, and will likely be part of a longer geomagnetic disruption caused by coronal holes. Magnetic storm activity should increase over the following week.

Exciting. :)  One of the interesting side-effects of having become informed about EMPs and the Carrington effect is now watching the space weather - it's as fascinating as our own weather patterns.  I had no idea of all the patterns and changes that go on from the sun.
