Hi All,
This one has been brewing in my mind for a good while now.
So let me get a few disclosures of interest out of the way first.
1. Spent 20yrs of my life in the Army Defending the constitution of the United States.
2. My heart was crushed the day I saw my nation kill it's own citizens in Waco Texas.
3. I still hold to the oaths of service I took.
4. I am still dedicated to the principle that the life of a voluntary servant of the public is not more important than the life of a citizen.
So you can shoot me all day long for this semi-rant.
I have some friends that are cops and I respect them as I would a fellow soldier. Yet there seems to be a separation in belief and understanding now days.
If at any time in my 20yrs in the Army, I had shot an unarmed individual. I would have been in deep shit. Believe me when I say that this almost happened a few times. Yet I was professional enough to not pull the trigger and used less final means to manage the situation.
This was me being a soldier being payed significantly less than most Law Enforcement Officers.
Now, If I can hold myself and a Private just out of training to these standards. Then someone please tell me why the Police in our nation cannot? Am I missing something here?
Has the precepts of our nation changed so much that the life of a voluntary public servant is worth more than the life of the citizen they serve? Yes I get the whole criminals get what they ask for thing. Yet I DO NOT get the public servant killing an unarmed citizen thing.
Sorry, that is and should not be America.
I whole heartedly wrote a blank check to my nation. I was a public servant knowing that it might require me to die in the line of duty. I whole heartedly accepted this and did my duty with honour.
So when I here rants about how a Cop on the beat deserves to be able to come home safe every night, I have no respect for them. Any voluntary public servant that is not willing to place their life on the line for the citizens of this nation unreservedly. Is disingenuous and a traitor.
Life is dangerous. The job is dangerous. The job requires a significant amount of intestinal fortitude to do. You shoot an unarmed person and you commit murder. No if's and's or But's. If I had done that in Panama I would still be in jail. Soi why are the rules different for our cops.
Damn I am REALLY PISSED OFF.....
Thanks for letting me vent.....
