Hi All,

Sorry I have been away for a bit.

I wanted to share a tip though.

I have acquired body Armor for the family.

I really took a good amount of time to consider what I needed to get in this area.

So I got level 2 Armor that is also stab resistance.

So here is the deal. Normal soft Armor is not built to resist a knife. Let's be honest that anything that can stand up to 9mm would take care of a great deal. Yet the stab proofing is worth a great deal.

My expertise is very limited on soft or hard body armor. Have it but not much more than that.

Since I can't answer your question I have one for you. How hard is it to buy body armor in the UK? Some states here are starting to restrict it's purchase.

And how is pricing?  Over there similar, better or worse than here?

And shipping?  Does UK have similar to US Priority mail which if it fits in the box goes for about $20, and less than 70 pounds it good international.

It has smaller boxes for about $8 and  medium  for about $14 or so.

The pricing is pretty good. I bought 4 vests for about £100.

That was for surplus police stock.

All of the vests are I good condition. I went with the Ex-police ones due to the anti stab layers in them along with the Kevlar.

It is a compromise, yet I think over here with hardly any firearms in public hands, the knife protection makes alot of sense.

You can get a pretty good idea of pricing and shipping charges from the UK EBay site.

Sounds like you made a very sound choice for your area.  Just remember when it comes to knife protection body armor still leaves areas under the arms, neck, and belt line that are unprotected (just like with a bullet). Those particular area are soft and ideal targets for knife attack.

Obviously no body armor has full protection so dont take this as I am knocking your choice. It is very good and you are giving your family a significant improvement of their chances in a terrible situation.  The armor you selected is also much more likely to be worn as it is much more "wearable" than many other heavier armor that would be not much less likely to be needed.

So thats 4 vests for about 100 pounds or about 160 dollars or about $40 each.  HHMMM, this might be worth more research.

Yep.... The choice was very much aligned to the societal based threat here.

Nemo.... Pretty good buy for me. Good prices for level IIa with stab protection.

Helluva good price over here.  Ship those 4 by slow boat over for $50 (about 30 pound) and that would be most excellent.
