I'm glad you said that JM. A lot of people who are much smarter than I am have posted some very thoughtful essays reminding those of us who look at Trump in horror as a misogynistic, racist, lying, bigot that not everyone who voted for him is cut from the same cloth. It's nice to know that you, at least, will stand up to protect the rights so clearly threatened by Trump's agenda. I certainly wait to see what happens in our country.
I was shocked, to put it mildly, when Trump won. I woke up around 1:30 and checked my phone and couldn't go back to sleep I was so upset. I truly, honestly fear for what this means for our country. The acts of bigotry already occuring just one day in make the days ahead look terribly bleak. I'm glad I'm a prepper - at least I'll have some sort of protection when things get bad. Of course, that's assuming that things don't get bad enough that those of us who aren't Christian get targeted just for being non-Christian. We'll see.
In the mean time, I'm trying to remind myself that the world didn't end. It's still spinning. The Sun rose, and will set and rise again. The Wheel turns no matter what we foolish humans do. I'm trying to feel my way through this new world and figure out how to reach out to those whose views are so diametrically opposed to mine, how to forgive my neighbors and associates for voting for someone I feel will destroy the soul of our nation - if it even has one left these days - and how to ensure my safety and that of my loved ones who will fall victim to the Trump/Pence agenda - my LGBTQ+, non-white, and fellow non-Christian friends.
