I ran across
this link today that shows the current population (As of July 1, 2013) of each state and compares the growth two ways; 2013 vs 2010 census and 2013 vs 2000 census.
If you don't have time to check out your state here is a observation that jumped out to me. Below is the growth of the nine* states with no personal income tax.
State 2013 vs. 2010 2013 vs.2000Alaska 1.1% 8.7%
Florida 4.0 22.3
New Hampshire * 0.5 7.1
Nevada 3.3 39.6
S. Dakota 3.8 11.9
Tennessee * 2.4 14.2
Texas 5.2 26.8
Washington 3.7 18.3
Wyoming 3.4 18.0
Keep in mind that the
average growth for 2013 vs. 2010 census is 2.2% and for 2013 vs. 2000 is 11.8%.
Now for the states with the highest personal income tax.
State 2013 vs. 2010 2013 vs.2000California (12.3%) 2.9% 13.2%
Hawaii (11%) 3.2 15.9
New Jersey (9%) 1.2 5.8
Iowa (9%) 1.4 5.6
Vermont (9%) 0.1 3.0
New York (8.8%) 1.4 3.6
Interesting stuff
