PMC's
« on: February 15, 2012, 12:08:00 PM »
I support the industry, I think this is only the beginning of the modern PC. I do not think they will be enemy troops in a economic collapse due to the fact that there would be a huge lack of funds. I personally donotthink pmc's will be the enemy in any shtf situation. After a few years in the military I might join the Pmc world. Thoughts?

Hell I was going to.

If the world doesn't go to hell in 2012 I still might. I mean I'm out of the Army in Jan of 13 so its a possibility.

Its a good career.
It pays well but its pretty dangerous and its not so easy to get into.

You gotta be a fucking G to get into that shit. Mostly they don't take any one with less than 3 years military experience or LEO

& as for dangerous I was over seas for 11 months only got shot at 1 time.

Those PMC's would be an hour before or after us and get fucked up all the time.

You should look into tactical responce, they give training, and have books to help you get into the career.

Actually thats not completely true. One of the guys on the Bremmer detail in IRAQ was a civilian who only took martial arts classes and shooting courses. Blackwater took him on even though he didnt have any "inside connections".

Is it common? Nope, but it can happen.

i know more than a couple PMC's

most are good guys and a few would never do some of the shit people are thinking they will be brought in for (gun grabs ect....)

i'm not a fan of the career choice myself,  getting shot at for a living sounds pretty shitty when i can make twice you salary (or more) and all i do is tile....

Know a guy, did his 20+, retired, started his own business, and supplements as a pmc. The guy is beyond stand-up. He seems to thoroughly enjoy the job (whatever it is, very hush-hush).

Watch the film Shadow Company. Some PMC's are better than others (the comparison between the British and Americans is very interesting). For insight on what it's like, there's a website called Death Valley Magazine written by people who live the life. It's not updated very often, but they're very no-nonsense about the whole thing.

I won't lie, it appeals to me too. But alas, medical issues...
