while we are on the subject lets talk about phones
verizon trac phones are $15 at wallyworld you pay in minutes through phone cards you buy and best of all to activate it all you do is call a number type in whatever area code you want and it gives you a phone number based out of that area code
real fuckin handy if'n you ever want to communicate discretely, unless they use voice recognition system while listening to your call they can't come up with dick for info on it
oh and pay cash for the fucking things too [img]http://www.arrse.co.uk/at

Great discussion TG! Let's keep it going...
I was thinking, could you pay cash and buy one of those visa, M/C or Am Express gift cards at the store and use it on-line? I know you can by buying on on-line BUT they take a whole bunch of info.
The reason I am asking is...It is recommended that you keep one months supply of cash on hand in case a Cyprus happens here. It might make more sense on having a months worth of cash on a card vs. actual cash on hand.

SO... SOOO much fail in one little sentence!!! Consider:
Long lasting power outage/EMP
ATM/bank runs draining physical currency
large scale communications blackout
"cash" on a card is not CASH, it is 1's and 0's that says you have such and such amount of currency. Physical cash in your hand could still be used to make purchases at times when the little piece of plastic becomes useless.
DO NOT FALL INTO THE CASHLESS SOCIETY TRAP!

Cash is King for a reason, do not attempt to dethrone him.

I hate credit cards or any other plastic piece of shit that was designed by banks to keep you in debt until the year when your great grand kids are born, sorry for the rant but I hate plastic money >:(

Hate to say it, but any time you're using a credit or debit card there's a way to track you. Unless you really like sending packages to your neighbors and stealing them before they get to it. :-\ I agree with the others about the whole cashless society too. If you need to get prepping goods look for them at local sources where you can use cash. Check out deals on places like craigslist also. You may be more likely to find someone to barter with online also.
I sincerely believe "plastic" was created to blind people from inflation. Anyone ever seen pictures of people with wheel barrels of cash in the Weimar Republic? To me that piece of plastic is the modern day equivalent.
