My neighbor
« on: December 21, 2016, 06:23:32 PM »
My neighbor and shooting buddy who is a ships captain and docking master just got some bad news. He blew out his knee and cannot climb the rope ladders to get on board ship. It's so bad he can't even climb down onto a tugboat. At fifty seven years old as a contract employee he has to retire. His wife is besides herself with worry.
I know what he and his wife are going thru because I was injured at fifty four and it looked like I was going to loose my job. My wife was a basket case. There are others on this board who know exactly what I'm talking about and like them he is strong and will survive.

I just had to tell somebody I feel so bad for him.
In principle, no less than in practice, socialism is the ideology of thieves and tyrants.

Been there, done that myself.  Mine was an infection and no doc of the dozen could begin to give me anyidentifiable source/cause.   Scar from surgery follows my hairline from the center of my forehead to curved around to in front of my ear and down that path to the middle of the ear.  Despite wife's claims, yes he left alot of brain in there.

I know just where he is.  Karma shall be spread and some will get to him.

If you need a second magazine, its time to call in air support.

God created Man, Col. Sam Colt made him equal, John Moses Browning turned equality to perfection, Gaston Glock turned perfection into plastic fantastic junk.

Mine wasn't health related mine was politics related.

After working for a company for 20 years, helping to grow it from a 13 store chain to a 440 store chain, the newly hired CEO retired me at 50. Actually he retired three-quarters of the senior team over a twelve-month period with my termination in the 12th month.

MrsMac just laughed and said, "We have our preps. Trust in God and all will be fine."

We are a very frugal couple and while my colleagues were buying fancy European cars, and McMansion's, we bough Fords and Saturn's. While they went on fancy vacations to Mexico, the Caribbean and Europe - We took the sailboat on two week cruises.

So with that little bit of ancient history, God has something in-store for your friend JoJo. Like Kbop wrote, "I'll keep them in my prayers tonight."

JoJo

I have a very good friend that is Military Sealift. During an UNREP not far off Diego Garcia they had to do an emergency separation which was initiated while he was mid ladder. He fell and had his leg caught right near his ankle which was shattered. Initially Navy doctors wanted to amputate. It was a very long road of recovery and he will never get full use back of his ankle. Just this year, almost 4 years later he was able to return to sea . This happened to him at 50 years old after a career of 24 yrs in the Navy and another 8 in Sealift.  All along his recovery he kept being told he would need to retire.

I truly hope your friend is able to recover and if what he wants is to return to work on the boats that he will be able to. I wish all the best for him and his family.
