Cycled out my aging canned goods and my fuel supplies. Currently working on renewing my med supplies.

Also re-barreled my bolt gun with a new Bartlein 24" barrel.

Nice!

With my neighbors help, took down two dead ash trees on his property leering over MrsMac and my cars.

Like CJS06, been throwing out cans of food that have expiration dates 3-years over expiration date.

Winterization projects,
> Winterize the outdoor cats Trump Tower,
> Close up windows on the chicken coup,
> Rototill the garden and plant winter cover,
> Run the run off hose to a dry creek bed, and turn on the hose to run 24/7 from the well up the hill so the hose does not
   freeze,
> Pulled out MrsMac's winter close totes nd asked her to swap out for her summer clothes. I will nag her till it gets done
> Lower the solar panels to 60 degrees to the sun for the winter,
> Put batteries in the trail cam near my deer blind,
> Etc, Etc, Etc. The list never seems to end.

Repacked the vehicles for winter. Extra coat, boots, gloves, hat, trail mix, jerky, swapped bottled water bottles to heavier duty ones (fiji).
Ordered some new canned butter, buerell? Will see how it compares to red feather.
New garage is complete after last winters mess. Will take some time to organize. Got the atv's back last week.

Dropping a tree I girdled many months ago to dry it whilst standing.  It's axe and bow saw time.  Winter is coming.

You guys put me in the shade.
All I did was take my latest pup down to Cordes Junction (1 1/2 hour drive) for a "mock test" and training today and brought home some more birds for training.   The real, _actual test_ (Natural Ability/NAVHDA) is only two weeks away.   And I have some holes to plug.
Left for the onrushing hours (days are too short to count): finishing fence repairs before it snows, getting the woodshed in order, cutting OAK from the forest to _add_ to the woodshed, clean the house!!!, more dog work, finish up garden harvest ( a few beets and turnips await), cut/stack on burn pile last months tree trimmings, etc, etc, etc.
Are any of these border-busting illegals _really_ interested in working hard for cheap?    Nawww... just kidding.   I will work hard for cheap.  And I can fry/enjoy my own corn tortillas.    With a catheter and bag strapped to my leg.
Waters warm, the party is just starting, come on in!!!!   :-)

Yeah, TN us too. We are focusing now on the basics. Going to the dentist on Nov. 28th.

Two weeks ago I moved our generator from the shed it has lived in for 10-yers to under the solar panels next to the cellar that houses all the solar equipment and batteries.

Today, I built a wood cover for the generator. Hopefully, the cover will keep it out of the weather and reduce the noise while operating a bit.

The generator is only to top off the batteries if the grid goes down and the winter sun does not supply enough to charge the batteries.

Just thinking ahead.  ;D

Exactly my though too JohnyMac.

My primary glasses are getting tired of being glued and my backups are prescription safety types; I don't want to look like a goober, but I will if necessary.

The rest is stuff that's needed and hard to acquire "IF" SHTF.

Better to have and not need...

This!  Inexpensive reading glasses are easily available right now, so I "seed" 1 or 2 pair into my comms kit, tool kit , medical kits, radiation measuring kit and etc. Better to have and not need...

Writing up Emergency SOP's with the intention to practice/simulate event.
-> House Fire (fire extinguisher locations, smoke alarms, personnel task assignments)
-> Power Outage: short-term (battery tender on Gen, Fuel on hand, monthly testing)
-> Bunk-in or Bug-Out (scenario based events: long-term power failure, civil unrest, political or economic, invasion, man-made or natural disaster)
-> Comms (test capabilities of HT's (and portables once acquired) in AO's, AI's and beyond)
-> Intruder(s) (Home security system, dogs, personnel task assignments/roles for each family member)
-> Vehicle Failure (in-town/out-of-town: hike it, bike it home)
-> ...

Will attempt write-up of each.  Please share your SOP's and experiences to help others establish their SOP's.

That is a wise move.  The idea of a fire or robbery and loss of goods doesn't settle well.

I carry an extra 76 pounds of lead, but it's mostly in my butt and belly.

RogueMetalSmith - Looking forward to your soon arrival.  I had wondered where our RSA contingent had been.

A dozen or so years ago had a field good for steers.  Got 3 from neighbor who bred dairy cows for their milk farm.  The 3 we got were 3 days, 5 days and 7 days old when delivered to us.  Naturally we had to feed them and mix the milk and all, until there were old enough to live on grain and grazing.  At 3 months old we banded them for steer purposes.  Talk about an unpleasant experience.  At least on my end.  Take a moment and think about doing that, and your own internal guilt.

To prevent anyone from getting too attached they were properly named.  Chuck, Sirloin and Pot.  Intended as reminders of why they were there and where they would end up.

I scored eight 5-gallon food grade buckets at $3.99/bucket with plans to fill with water for more water storage. Our garlic is getting taller. Strawberries are green and growing beautifully. Oregano, parsley, and cilantro are perfect for harvesting. Indoor plants still hanging out inside, waiting for their day to move outside to the raised beds with the exception of some tomato plants that my husband planted today since we have rain in the forecast.

A suggestion for food grade buckets-- Ruby Tuesday restaurant.  Or almost any restaurant with a salad bar.

Much of the veggies on the bar comes in buckets.  Sometimes olives, but most often pickles.

Might have to do some scrubbing, but they are clean, vinegar washed and food grade.   Most of the time you can get them free.

Nemo - Thanks for the suggestions. We have a Ruby Tuesdays nearby.  We took a shot at a silent auction this week and we placed a sealed bid of $105 on a 550 gallon water tank. The minimum bid was $100. We won the bid. My husband is making plans to build a stand for it and we will keep it filled with water for storage. Thankful for this sweet find!
