Important-- Full Moon 2 Days
« on: December 23, 2015, 02:30:30 PM »
OK, be happy with Important.  I have recently used Mission Critical so thats out for now-- but anyway

and a Merry Christmas to all.  If you are Jewish, Happy Hanuka or whatever is appropriate.  If neither, hey dude!

and remember, its a full moon this year.  First one since 1977 and it won't happen again until 2034.  Many here will not be alive to see the next one, so GTHO and see it.  Hopefully those not around are by age, not govt misconduct or such.

And remember, its the Full Cold Moon.  From Farmers Almanac, so you know its right.

The Full Cold Moon; or the Full Long Nights Moon

December During this month the winter cold fastens its grip, and nights are at their longest and darkest. It is also sometimes called the Moon before Yule. The term Long Night Moon is a doubly appropriate name because the midwinter night is indeed long, and because the Moon is above the horizon for a long time. The midwinter full Moon has a high trajectory across the sky because it is opposite a low Sun.

Rare Full Moon on Christmas Day

Not since 1977 has a full moon dawned in the skies on Christmas. But this year, a bright full moon will be an added gift for the holidays.

December’s full moon, the last of the year, is called the Full Cold Moon because it occurs during the beginning of winter. The moon’s peak this year will occur at 6:11 a.m. EST.

This rare event won’t happen again until 2034. That’s a long time to wait, so make sure to look up to the skies on Christmas Day.

As you gaze up at the Christmas moon, take note that NASA has a spacecraft currently orbiting Earth’s moon. NASA’s Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO) mission has been investigating the lunar surface since 2009.

“As we look at the moon on such an occasion, it's worth remembering that the moon is more than just a celestial neighbor,” said John Keller, NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland. “The geologic history of the moon and Earth are intimately tied together such that the Earth would be a dramatically different planet without the moon.”

LRO has collected a treasure trove of data with its seven powerful instruments, making an invaluable contribution to our knowledge about the moon.

LRO is managed by NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland, for the Science Mission Directorate at NASA Headquarters in Washington.

For more information on LRO, visit:

Also, make sure you put out your empty wallet too tonight. As is an earlier post: put your empty wallet out and say three times to the moon, "fill my wallet". You will then receive $$$ in some form in the next 30 days.

Take the 30 seconds and do it.  If it does nothing come back and laugh at us for making you do it*.  If it does something come back, bow and scrape in front of us and do it again next month, sharing in the meantime.

Deal?

*so you know you, we will laugh back because followed our instructions and did it wrong or just did something dumb when we told you to do it

Quick funny story.

Back many moons ago I use to run a $160M region of 120+ retail stores. I could see live how each store was doing and my admin use to send me a mid day sales report with regional and district totals.

One week we were doing pretty poorly with sales so I sent a regional email out to each Store Manager and cc'd the DM's that instructed everybody to go out and buy a 1 # box of table salt. Once they had the salt, spread it just outside their front doors. If they did this successfully they would have more customers come into their stores.

About an hour after I sent the email the phone calls started. First they came from the DM's questioning my sanity. I patiently explained to each that an Italian member of my wife's family who owned a restaurant in Philly use to do this to drum up customers on slow nights. Then the emails and phone calls started coming in from the Store Managers telling me, "it is working!"

I asked each Store Manager to share their experience with the whole region on line. Before I knew it every store was doing it.

Then I got a phone call from the SrVP of Stores and the CEO who inquired if I had lost my marbles. I explained the whole thing, Italian, Aunt, salt, sales, blah blah blah. I then asked them to check sales for my region and sure enough our sales were going through the roof.

OK in hindsight what I had done was get people off their fat asses by telling them to do something. Some did it and the results were good so I asked them to share with the group which brought the crazy idea up another notch. Excitement breeds excitement and excitement breeds success. And of course success breeds more success.  ;)

PS: Several months later we had a company District Managers meeting; I was awarded a 25# bag of rock salt. The CEO called it, "The get off your Ass and do Something Award." They would give the award periodically throughout the year. I wonder if they still have it? Oh well.
