Title: making some changes
Post by: STRAITJACKET on September 09, 2011, 08:47:45 PM
Hey everyone, I'm in the process right now as we speak of playing around with forum , possible color changes, adding a portal, page, etc. This process may be on going over the next few days. If you see something and you dont like it let me know. As of right now the portal page is up. When you go to straightprep.com/forum it will take you straight to the portal first , if you want to nav to the forum click on the forum button at the top of the portal.

Looks good so far.

You might want to add a link on the index page to the forums in addition to the toolbar up top.  It'll help with the new people...

right off the bat, I'd say that the portal page is cool, but I'd put a "forum" button in a more obvious place. make it big and dummy-proof.

Working on making a button to go where the flag image is for the banner on the portal , which will basically be a redirect button to access the forum , it involves making the button and writing the code could be a while with other things going on , we will get there. I have a good friend helping me out fellas he gets most of the credit. Im just cracking the whip, lol.

Hey Spirit, If your wanting to view your posts , which is the way Im taking it , I might be wrong. You can by going to your profile and show posts.   Its not written into this forums code any other way, to do that I would have to make a button for each and every member and link it to that individual. I would have to do that every time we gained a new member. Is that what your asking?

I like the dogtags over the grenades. It looks less militant.

I agree.  The dogtags are probably a good move.   [URL=http://www.smileyvault.co

Everythings looking amazing.   Recent posts and recent topics on the portal are kinda redundant, same with news on top and bottom of portal.

Also the featured video on the portal won't always be thatguyisms.  If you want a featured video, or want to suggest one hit us up!

Thanks for all the help guys, suggestions, etc. Yeah there is some redundancy on the portal, didnt want it looking to bare until I knew what you wanted in those blocks, lol.

I noticed that before you sign in there is a list of forum members based on their number of posts. I suggest you loose it. IMO we are looking for quality posts not quantity.

With that said, I am continuously amazed with you guys who started the forum and are making it better each and every day. After one month this forum is already better then Mr L&L ever was.

Thank you.

Everyones name inside the post block is now white , should make it easier to read than the burnt orange color it was before.

I kinda liked the gray now that we have white lettering for our names.

I am waiting though because you have never failed to impress me.

Anyone that has added a link to post recently noticed the text was in a slate gray color very hard to read on the tan post background, color has been changed to white.

I like the multicam in the background, with the OD Green/grey and the coyote brown together. Real cozy :D

I have to admit that in the beginning I liked the grey version more, but now with the multicam in the background the board its looking real nice
I found the text with the gradient effect gets really hard to read

Keep the good work straightjacket    [URL=http://www.smileyvault.co

EDIT: Disregard what I said about a gradient in the text... Its a strange effect that happens if I'm watching a movie in the background while reading the blog...

Looks much better.  A lot easier on the eyes.  Needs a little more OD green here and there, but that's just my 2 cents.

Hey fellas, I just installed the Aeva Media Mod to the forum, if you havent already noticed you will be able to auto embed vids from various places and watch them within the post. Sorry I cant remember who made this suggestion a while back but good call on the mod, sorry it took so long to get around to installing it. Enjoy. Example below.

Just noticed that Reavers vids were not displaying when he tried embedding them in the trench humor topic "laugh your ass off thread"  turns out we hit the default setting for the limit of 12 embeds per page , it has now been increased to 20. So embed away!!
